We are ALL (well, at least 98% of total US pop) immigrants here.
Do NOT forget what made this country so great and powerful - you guessed it -> IMMIGRANTS.
So use your minds before you jump to ealy conclusions. No wall, no fence will stop people (yes, immigrants are humans) from coming here. Instead of throwing offensive jokes at them, think how can YOU give something to your country by doing something useful for the immigrants. Once again, they are the blood stream of this society. Stop them and the USA will die (slowly, but will).

I have no problem with immigration, what I do have a problem with is people doing it illegally and taking advantage of/ abusing the system. They do pay a vital role in terms of the cheap labor, but they have also taken those cheap labor positions away from US citizens. Most of the money that they earn is not kept in our economy, they send the money that they make back to Mexico, why do you think the Mexican President is so against stricter immigration rules on our behalf. This is in addition to the fact that you are paying for their healthcare and when you are waiting for four hours at the hospital keep in mind that immigrants are also there tying up beds and getting it for free. Think about the schools where these immigrant children are being educated for free....but even that is not enough mexican immigrants have been known to demand for the lessons to be taught in spanish. I believe immigration is a key of our culture, of the american melting pot, but I also believe that we need to take care of our citizens before we take on more. And I have lived in both Arizona and California

The state of california is the third largest economy in the world. Is it fair that America made it what it was today built it up and we should just give it away. If it never became the land of USA it would never have been so prosperous it would have been a **** hole. BTW it wasn't Mexicos land originally. They stold it from the native tribes already occupying it hundreds of years ago. Then America bought it from mexico. And it wasn't the whole state just part of it. Do two wrongs make a right no, but just beecause they are all brown it is okay to steal from eachother and call it their own?

Grow your own damn tomatoes, and stop being so lazy and free with other people's money. Why should the other 49 states have to prop up California's deliberate economic dysfunction, year after year? Maybe YOU feel like signing deed and title of your state over to Mexico, but the other states in the Union, and their taxpayers, just might see the situation differently.
I think ALL costs related to California's lack of effective immigration enforcement should remain IN California, and if they don't get their act together on the issue, say in a reasonable period such as 2 years, NO more wealth redistribution from the rest of the states. California needs to keep order in its' own house, and do a much better job on dealing with immigration than they've done in previous years.
If you have grievance with that, be sure to voice it to the 'mexican mayor of Los Angeles' or whomever you feel best represents your interests...for my dollar, you've been won over by the pro-illegal advocates and sympathizers...mano y mano politics is apparently working in California...for Mexico...I say 'viva Los Etados Unidos del America'(as in, 'NOT Mexico), guests are welcome, but LEGAL immigration ONLY, apparently the entire issue needs to be spelled out line, chapter, and verse for the benefit of the nationality-confused...Mexico has its' own economy, Mexico can tend the needs of its' own citizens, but won't do so until the 'easy out' of unlimited american support gets closed off.
To be part of the solution on all of this, California at large by majority is going to have to sit down and decide which country it is they actually want to continue to be part of...it's up to their voters...but, whatever happens, let's end the Neverending National Guilt Trip Of Perpetual Economic Responsibility for Mexico's unsupported population. End communism NOW, be sure to vote!

Give back California to Mexicans??? They had it before??????
There are many reasons why Americans are opposed to illegal immigration (not immigration - there is a huge difference!)
Burden is that they are bringing economy down, taking jobs away from Americans, don't pay taxes, raise health care costs for us, and most importantly DO NOT TRY TO BECOME US CITIZENS OR LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH as all the other immigrants who came to this country!!

I don't care if your Mexican, Caucasian, whatever. I disagree with you because I believe your wrong. The reason I mention Mexican and Central American illegals is because that is who composes the bulk of the illegals in this country. And yes illegals make for cheap labor. There are people who will work for in agriculture, and other jobs illegals usually go for in this country. But minimum wage is not much to ask, for their work, and should probably earn more than minimum wage considering how hard the work is.
And you want to give CA back to Mexico, which is ridiculous. It's not like we obtained CA from native Mexicans (aboriginal peoples) we took it from Spain, so we don't owe Mexico anything. The Spanish in Mexico, were as big as the British thieves stealing land in America.

I'd hate to give California to the Mexicans, but I would love to give you to them. If you are so nuts about the illegals, why don't you move over where they originated from! They will probably treat you like crap. Wake up!

Just because you feel like giving away what so many people have struggled to obtain doesn't mean the rest of your neighbors feel the same way. Show some respect to your fellow man.

Its not fair to the people who are trying to get in to America legally Like me, a Canadian who would love to live and work HONESTLY in America and I won't do it until I do it honestly.
These people all using the back door make the front doo tougher.
California is America.

Perhaps you don't really know the burden that legal Californians shoulder because of the cost to keep your tomatoes $ 1 a pound as you say.
The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Californians: Executive Summary
Analysis of the latest Census data indicates that California's illegal immigrant population is costing the state's taxpayers more than $10.5 billion per year for education, medical care and incarceration. Even if the estimated tax contributions of illegal immigrant workers are subtracted, net outlays still amount to nearly $9 billion per year. The annual fiscal burden from those three areas of state expenditures amounts to about $1,183 per household headed by a native-born resident.
The more than $10.1 billion in costs incurred by California taxpayers is composed of outlays in the following areas:
Education. Based on estimates of the illegal immigrant population in California and documented costs of K-12 schooling, Californians spend approximately $7.7 billion annually on education for illegal immigrant children and for their U.S.-born siblings. Nearly 15 percent of the K-12 public school students in California are children of illegal aliens.
Health care. Uncompensated medical outlays for health care provided to the state's illegal alien population amount to about $1.4 billion a year.
Incarceration. The cost of incarcerating illegal aliens in California's prisons and jails amounts to about $1.4 billion a year (not including related law enforcement and judicial expenditures or the monetary costs of the crimes that led to their incarceration).
State and local taxes paid by the unauthorized immigrant population go toward offsetting these costs, but they do not come near to matching the expenses. The total of such payments can generously be estimated at about $1.6 billion per year.
The fiscal costs of illegal immigration do not end with these three major cost areas. The total costs of illegal immigration to the state's taxpayers would be considerably higher if other cost areas such as special English instruction, school feeding programs, or welfare benefits for American workers displaced by illegal alien workers were added into the equation.
Now are those tomatoes still "cheap"? Not to me .
