WMP keeps giving message that I need to install DVD decoder which is only available (per microsoft) thru vendors like Cyberlink/Sonic/InterVideo... etc. for 30 to 40 $, Is their a better way or different DVD player a person can download or a DVD decoder that is available as free download. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. I am using a desktop computer-Dell- Pentium 4 CPU 2.8 GHz with Windows XP Home Edition.Thanks- DKG

I will tell you what I did to fix this problem first I got rid of windows media player all together it is useless, it wants to go to net and check to see if by copy right law if you are allowed to watch the vidio or song and it also will report you if you download a song illegally through p2p file shareing network. The way you get rid of it since is no uninstall. Is ,Go to search and search for windows media player and whatever shows up deleate it.Now that peice of crap is gone..........!.Now go to google and do a search for klite mega codecs the file is about 30mg byts install the codecs now for a good media player the best I have seen do the same thing go to google search for "jet audo" thats its name but it also plays movies burns mp3 or converts audio files to differant formats.Another program you are going to want is VLC media player this thing will play anything.I think you can get both of them @ http://www.download.com But remember if you don't get rid of windows media player before yo do all this you can forget it .Windows media player will cause nothing but conflics with vlc or jet. This is the answer that will fix the problem .I know from my own experiece.good luck.
