Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

You should use at least 2 spyware programs(especially if they're freeware) because sometimes one will pick up things the other wont. Another free one besides the others already mentioned is Ad-aware SE Personal
www.lavasoft.nu
but I can't work out how to download it from this site so you can search for it on:
www.download.com
Microsoft's own antispyware program ,Defender, is available free if you use have Windows XP SP2 so you might as well get that if you already through Windows Update.
AVG Anti-spyware at www.grisoft.com is also has a great reputation and has a 30 day trial.
Also you want a program that has things that stop malware getting onto your computer in the first place rather than just removing it. Some of these have features like that but a free program that is just for that is SpywareBlaster:
www.javacoolsoftware.com
SpywareGuard, another free program that is similar and can be used with the former is also on that site.
Just try not to have too many of the parts of the programs that actively try to stop malware getting on your computer on at once, you often end up getting the same type of messages from different programs one after another or at once.

I use Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 9.0 and quiet suit with it. So I can recommend it to you. This program includes the features that won’t let any malicious code get into your computer. Enhanced malware shield allows you to set the level of protection you need (high, medium, or low). Daily malware definition updates. That is all you need to feel protected
