It is awful these days trying to get a loan, we have been in the same boat. What we did was went to a small locally owned bank and applied for a small unsecured loan and it went through.

Make sure that you actually need a loan. There are other options avaliable, especially if you are looking for a loan to help you with debt. If it is debt taht you are struggling with try reading this advice:
http://www.flmloans.co.uk/debt-help.php
If you are sure that a loan is the best option for you try-
http://www.advantageloansuk.co.uk/
You can call them and make a telehone application. If they can help you they will charge you a fee of between £20 and £50. For this they will guarantee to get you the best loan that is avaliable to you, but perhaps more importantly, they will guarantee to get you accepted.
I can't guarantee what the APR will be but at least you know that you will have got the best deal avaliable. In fact if you get a deal that is better than the one they get for you they will refund your fee and give you an extra £50.

Sounds like you don't NEED a loan, you WANT a loan. If you can't get one, take a step back and ask why. Maybe the best Xmas gift you could give yourself and family is to get into better financial health.
Recommend you listen to the Dave Ramsey radio show, or get one of his recent books from the library. He tells you how to get out of debt and fix your financial woes.
Good luck! I was there once. It takes a lot of hard work and willpower to resist the credit monster.

You have to accept that you are regarded as a bad borrower ..... the only people that will lend to you are high risk takers with interest options to match! Door to door lenders in the UK are notorious for slapping £500 Xmas money in your hand and making you pay for the next ten years! Don't do it ....... they thrive on the needy, awful though it may sound. You are better off having a poor Xmas and a debt free New Year ....... only other options are family and friends I guess. But just make sure you honour if they lend!

Your credit must not be good so the only way you will get one is with an outrageous APR.

go to http://www.prosper.com there you can borrow money from ordinary people and they bid on the interest you pay. The loan is paid back over 3 years.
