there are many ways to download free music, most of which are "illegal" because everybody use them, there really is no danger of getting caught. you can use P2P networks to download songs. programs like Limewire, WinMX and etc, are designed so that you can search for what you want then you will be connected to other peoples computer and download the songs from their PC. this is the most popular and the most basic way to download songs. goto www.limewire.com and download the free version of the software to get started. but make sure that you have a anti-virus and firewall because you are downloading stuff from other peoples computer, those people could also embed a virus in their files. but if you have a good anti-virus and firewall you should be 100% fine. i used this method for 3 years and i never caught any viruses or nothing, so dont worry. also be aware of the size! a song which is like 5 minutes long should be at least 5 megabite. if there is file with 800KB it abviously cannot be that song so DONT DOWNLOAD IT. and if you did DONT OPEN IT!!. that all, if you had anymore problems just give me shout, on my email.

Free Music Downloads are most often/always illegal.
You are adviced not to promote piracy.Hence please pay for the music that you download.
You may use Paid services such as iTunes, RealRhapsody, Napster(new),etc.
Since you asked about free, try torrents- they are illegal and you could end up in jail!(thats the standard disclaimer).Get a torrent client such as Azureus or MuTorrent,BitCommet,etc...and log on to some good torrent sites and start your downloads.You could also try limewire.

step1: go to www.download.com and search for limewire in software section.
step2: download and install it.
step3: once done, open it. wait for it to connect and then type in the song name or the artist name u want to download.
every thing u can think of (music,software,pics..etc..) can b downloaded for free. there r better ways than this but this is the easiest. have fun.

Download iMesh 7.0 from http://imesh.com. iMesh is very quick in locating mp3s and downloads can be very fast. Enjoy ur sweet time.
