Hello!

It's great that you are asking this, and it shows that you do want to learn. I'm sure you will.

Believe it or not, for most people learning a language, oral production goes ahead of aural comprehension... meaning that you can typically say things and be perfectly well understood, but it's sometimes extremely difficult to understand the response of the native speaker. What helps with that problem is doing things like listening to English language radio or watching English language TV.

If you are lucky enough to find that you have little or no problem with aural comprehension, then the best thing to do is TALK to people fluent in English. Native speakers make the best 'practice-mates,' since they have a tendency to use phrases and idiomatic expressions that some non-native speakers (even if the non-native speaker is very, very good) wouldn't use or understand.

I've been trying to learn French for a long time. Once I was talking to a native speaker and I said that something was "un morceau de gateau," meaning that something was "a piece of cake" (which, in English, is the same as saying something is very easy). But that's NOT the idiom used in French! The native speaker corrected me and told me that they say "les doigts dans nez" for that concept, which translates as "fingers up the nose." I know it sounds bizarre, but it's no more bizarre than saying "a piece of cake" to mean "easy." That's the kind of thing native speakers will know.

If you can get some language CDs that have you listen and speak, that's also good. Say the words OUT LOUD, and make it a sort of acting game to pronounce the words just like you hear them on the CD. I had a friend Mattheu from France visiting me once. We were driving together somewhere, and I put on one of the French CDs I had where a French phrase would be followed by a native English speaker saying the same thing. Mattheu, who NORMALLY spoke English with a very heavy French accent, all of a sudden started "acting" the part of the English speakers, repeating THEIR sentences in almost perfect, flat, American accented English. I nearly drove off the road because I was laughing so hard at hearing that sound come out of his mouth!!! But that's what we need to do; ACT the part, even if we feel a little silly. We will end up sounding better if we do, and we'll have a good time in the process.

So practice practice practice, and have fun!

Hi, I'm an English-learner too.

To improve your English, I would recommend you to go to enrol in a language course. That's the best thing to do. At least, that's how my English improves.

2. Watch English movies.

3. Read! (not necessarily books. Blogs, articles, Yahoo! Answers would be ok) (That's where I get the phrasal verbs and offensive slang)

4. Think in English too, if possible.

5. Write a blog in English. It will help you to think in English.

6. In short, familiarize and enjoy yourself with the language!

Try reading a passage from a newspaper/magazine like a news commentator. Record it onto a Record player. Listen back. then analyze were you went wrong. It could be with prounication of a word, the rate of speech, a pause in comrehending to understanding a word and so on. Then improve upon it. Later record the same passage. compare it with your ealier recorded version. go on with this process. u will start to feel confident and improving upon your speaken english in due course of time.

Good on you (well done)! English is a difficult language to learn, even for other Europeans!
Practise on your own, practise with other learners, practise with native speakers if you can - find people who understand that you are still learning, and are happy to help you. Take a class, if you can. Listen and repeat.
Most of all, don't feel shy or sad. You are eager to learn, and doing your best!

Good that you feel this way because you are bound to do something. To improve your spoken language , you need to practice using it. You know you'll make mistakes but that's the best way to learn. To improve your pronunciation listen to different programs on TV and radio and say the word out loud. You'll see how this helps.

The only way you can get good at the pronunciation is to speak it a lot.
