Human beings weren't made from dirt. The Genesis creation stories are just that...stories. They're not intended to be science or history textbooks. Most mainstream Christians do not read them as statements of scientific or hsitorical fact.

just to make a point here, when you say dirt it implies the other meaning,i.e of filth, something to be reviled, not your intention I`m sure, much better to say man came from the earth why?
because when God made the earth and all that was in it he said it was good.
so the bodies that God made are taken from the earth and are akin too it( keep remembering that the earth was good) and so this is true of all earthly creatures, we may not be so good today we are still Gods creation and He still loves us.

If Adam was made from dirt, why was Eve made from Adam? Did they run out of dirt?

Humans were not made from dirt, but from mud. They are honoured creaters as they have sophisticated thinking minds.

"From dust thou came, to dust shalt thou return." He was speaking about all flesh, which obviously includes animals. Do animals not return to dust also, after being buried? Of course they do. What is dirt made from? Compounds, minerals, soil, etc.

I wonder if this was discussed in the Bible, or does this go in the same category as the world's population coming from one couple?

I don't need to know that. I need to know He created all, I can ask Him how when I get there. I believe the word of God and hope you will, too.
