I tend be an atheist. Nevertheless, this question is not to question your beliefs.

Are there any phenomena / argument / logical reasoning / philosophy that convinces you to believe in God? (which mean you do not believe in God simply because of the Bible, Quran, ........
At my place, ocassionally there are booklets trying to convince me to believe in God. They always try to disprove the evolution theory. However, just because the evolution theory is not true, doesn't mean God does exist, does it? So what convinces you to believe / not believe in God? Please do not quote anything from books, if possible and practicable. Also, you are welcome to convince me to believe in God.
Remember, this is not a provoking question.

Scientists often prove the unseen by opposites. If we acknowledge the existence of a painting, we must acknowledge the existence of a painter though we may never see or meet the painter. If we say, "This building is real", then we must also say, "There must be a builder." So it is with all creation. If we believe this creation exists, then we must also believe a Creator exists. True science and true religion agree one with another. The proofs of God are to be found in every atom if you ponder with a pure and discerning eye.

Hi there.

"A peaceful, not provoking question on the existence of God(s) / Spirits?" What a pleasant change!
I believe that the creation (nature) is clear proof of the existence of a "higher power". Just look at the diversity, complexity and beauty of it. It all fits together. Why? Because it was made to.
As a believer in God through Jesus Christ, I also have personally experienced His tangible (invisible) presence as well as many answers to prayer (coincidence, the atheist's would probably say).
Look at the state of the world today - in particular, the environmental situation (can't blame religion for that, atheists!). IF God doesn't exist, who's going to step in and help the world out of it's own mess ?

Also, why do people who are not "religious" often instinctively cry out, "Oh my God!" when faced with difficult situations. I would argue that this is because there is an innate awareness of God's existence within them, even if they refuse to acknowledge it.

Hope this helps, God bless you.

I appreciate your friendliness. It would help to go to the 'search for questions' at the top of the page for several answers. Beware of the 'booklet' people, they are considered a cult by many. I happen to be a Christian who DOES believe in evolution. Yes there are some of us. Genesis tells us little of how He created. It does tell us He did create. I always felt I had an empty place inside me until I accepted God and Jesus as my Savior. As soon as I did accept, a huge burden lifted from me, and the empty space was gone!!! I feel Him in my heart all the time and even wake up every morning with a Christian song in my head. I look forward to the rest of my life on earth, but more to Heaven. As a little child when my grandmother had family reunions I just loved them, and even though I was young I thought 'this is what Heaven will be like'. I think God revealed that to me.

Yeah but you're still not going to buy it.

I was once holding a charge of chemicals that exploded in my hands right up to my hands. There was still solid chemicals inside the tube where my hands were. Theoretically I should have no hands.

I was once going about 75 on a desert road and there ws a stop sign way up ahead and I put on the breaks and it took forever to stop and without me doing anything my car veered left and came to a stop side by side with another car. I held the wheel firm and pressed on the breaks with both feet. The car just moved sideways, virtually straight.

Now, you go figure it out.

More than once I was about to step off a curb and something made me hesitate and a second later comes a car around the corner at high speeds. Had I taken a step it would have creamed it.

There are not logical reasoning or arguments that can convince anyone to believe in God. Believing is a matter of faith. When I look around and see the trees, the stars, my family, and all the other things that amuse my senses, that is when I feel the presence of God. God does not express herself (on purpose I like to feel God as a female that complements me, but really I believe God does not have any gender), God manifest herself. Be still, feel, meditate, and some day you may discover God.

Because I "believe" does not mean I always "understand". In looking at EVERYTHING I do not see how anybody can NOT believe in God. Pick up a leaf. Look at each tiny little "vein" in the leaf. Look at your own body. Thousands of tiny blood vessels and hundreds of organs, all finely tuned to work in harmony with each other. There is no way that I could be convinced of anything other than a power so much higher than ourselves created all of this. No "big explosion" sometime thousands of years ago could have created the intricate details of everything from flowers to animals to human beings. So, for me it is very simple to believe. I don't always understand but I will always believe. Yes, I do have blind faith, however, for me, it is incredible that everyone does not have that faith. Just look around you. This did not just "happen". Everything was a creation not just some fluke. Thanks for letting me have my say. It is my sincere hope, prayer and desire that you will find the peace that only knowing God can give you.

WoW! You really have a wonderful attitude; and a very nice way of asking this important question. I hope you get some good, honest and sincere answers, ( not like the first one!)
I don't know IF I can"convince" you to believe in God; as that is a gift from God, but I will tell you what I think,...reasoning...
I believe in God because we are are here for a reason; for example, look at the good things done in the world, people helping others...if there was no God, where would that come from? The good in us comes from God. Look at good vs. evil, I believe there is evil, perhaps to show us a comparison of what it would be like without God's love. What about LIFE itself? How would that happen without God? God represents FAMILY, and we are all the children. God gave us, just like our own parents, a set of rules to follow, to help us to enjoy life and happiness...God's rules are the 10 Commandments.
Every good thing in life comes from God. Love, flowers, animals, pets, food, water, etc...these all had to be created; they are not here by accident. God's way is Love; it is there for us always. Destruction and chaos are from the opposite force.
I personally believe in God because I can feel in my heart and spirit, that God is there, and God answers my prayers, thru Jesus. I have had many prayers answered and each time I have, it just re-inforces my faith in God. Also, what is to be gained by NOT believing?
God has a plan in the future for all of us, whether we believe now or not. We WILL believe in God in the future, as God will give us a chance to know him and to learn about him. If, after having that chance, we still won't believe and turn to His ways, we'll just cease to exist. I choose to be among the believers who now follow God; much easier. ( lots of info on this subject, but I'm keeping it short!)
We all have trials and troubles in this present and temporary life; and the reason for that is part of God's plan to help us grow, as individuals, at a spiritual level, Each trial that we overcome, gives us more faith and more strength, and makes the next trial a bit easier, with God's loving help.
I hope that you will keep your heart and mind open to the possibilities that our Creator gave each of us. If I were a non-believer, I would accept the concept of God, as a challenge...I would TRY to prove that there is no God; bet you can't do it.
God Bless you.

Sorry, this is hard to answer right now..

Because i think God have done evrything He wants to do to tell us that He exist long long years ago, on the time of the prophets,, the last was Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)..

That's why God left us his final book the Holy Qur'an, Completed with all the Books., About all the Prophets like Jesus(Peace be upon him)

So i share to you from the Quar'an..

Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread)
This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, Allah is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

What convinves me that God exists is that I exist. Yes, I was born by my mother who was born by her mother and so on. Who created the first mother? Who created Adam and Eve? Who created the first couple of every living species so that they 'evolute' automatically ever eince?

You are right about not using verses from Holy books to prove the existence of God because it is the other way round. Believing in the existence of Allah leads to believing in Prophets and Holy books.

Look at this vast wide very sophisticated complicated universe? Can it run and maintain itself by itself? The simplest of projects needs a propject manager and a whole team to run it. Right?

Thanks for being respectful
Peace
