Why must everyone bash everyone elses belief's. Why cant peole just agree to disagree. I believe we are all trying to get to the same place and there is no ONE right way to go about it.
Why cant certain religions (I wont name the main ones) be more tolerant of other faiths?
The world would be a much nicer place if they could!

By saying there is no ONE way to get to wherever we are going, I mean that everyone is heading for the same place, whatever that may be! Just live your life as a good person, and I cant see why what you believe would affect this.
But thats just my religion/belief, everyone has different ideas!

I try not to bash anyone.I am a gay Christian and so I know the importance of being open minded.but I also will defend my beliefs and who I am against aggression and intolerance. It may sound like I am attacking people but I choose my words carefully. And every day I am learning new ways to say things so that I can get my messages across without insulting people.

I agree with you. The problem is not with the religions; it is the people. When Jesus was sent to the Jews, did they all believe in him and convert to Christianity? No. Some did and others didn't. Did they wage wars at each other and exchange hatred as we do now? The same when Muhammad was sent. Did all Christians and Jews embrace Islam? No. But they lived together and dealt with each other with love and tolerance.

It is the people, not religions - the practice, not the theory. In fact, I know for sure that Islam urges us to be good to people, discuss things with them and different opinions as grown ups.

You know what proves what I am saying? Some times I watch talk shows on TV. They are all muslims, one religion! However, they do not know how to converse. Once someone expresses a different opnion, everyone goes attacking and undermining the person as if it is something personal and they have to take revenge!!!

Something serious is going on. We do not tolerate differences any more. Everyone thinks they are the only right and the rest are even below conversing with. It is not only religion. Observe the world around you: black and white, male and female, gay and straight, etc. Who tolerates the other?

It really makes me sad.

May Allah have mercy on us all
Peace

Wow.. Irony Example # 2 Today: Someone asks if people can be open minded with a closed mind. You just labeled everyone as closed minded.
Most people tend believe what they do, and they usually stick with it. If you think your belief is right, everyone who doesn't share it has to be wrong. The only truly open minded people are the ones that still question beliefs and have not come upon any definite conclusions.

Yes,it would be good if we could all just live quietly.Unfortunately, whenever there are differences in belief, there will alaways be disagreements.Posting a question on here though probably won't get through or make a diffeence. It's been tried many times.

I can't agree to disagree when believers in the dominant religion have taken over nearly every aspect of life in my country. The government, the businesses, the media, etc etc. If they won't let it be, if they feel the need to bring their faith into everything (which directly and indirectly effects my life), why should I let it be?

I am curious to know that if we're all trying to get to the same place, what place is that? And if there is no ONE right way to go about it, then are you saying that all of them are wrong, or are you saying that all of them are right?

Assuming that you are saying that all of them are right, then does that mean that I can believe anything I want to and still get to that same place that we are all trying to get to?

I really need to know the answer to this.

The world can never be a nice place so long as it is under the rule of Satan. There is only one way to heaven and that way is through the cross of Jesus Christ. I am not trying to be unkind, but you are living in a fantasy world of never-never land. The harsh reality is (and history will bear me out) that man kills man out of pride. All evil in this world is the work of pride, and as long as men and women are prideful the devil shall rule. Once Jesus has dealt with Satan, then the world know peace.

It would be nice if people would show a little respect.

Maybe God likes all the names his children have for him. Eventually we all get known as "Miss Sue" or "Aunt Sue" or Grandma.....

anyway, Maybe God likes being Allah, and Buddah and Jehovah. Maybe we put Him in a box according to our small mortal minds. Maybe we presume too much to presume to know the mind of God.

That's exactly what I think. But everyone is just so worry about being the best and also proving their right in arguements, which is not what religion should be about.

Well said. I could not agree more. In my experience, it always seems to be the spiritually immature who are unable to accept and love those of other faiths. Thanks again for posting. Questions like this have become few and far between.
