you need 2 add cocoa butter and all that. cocoa beans would just make a ground powder- no matter how heard you tried love.

who says you can't? if you don't want to experiment with roasting your beans, you can buy them pre-roasted. and if you don't have loads of equipment to hand already (like if you're not a major player in the kitchen) try this website for supplies and info.

roasting needs to done at very precise temperature and time. Then you still have to grind and press the beans. It's fascinating and complex.
