To make it worse, they are the silent and deadly kind, I mean you cant hear them so they sneak up on you and smack you in the face.

It's probably his dog food. Are you using a "cheaper" brand? I'd try changing (gradually) his food to a better brand. We used to have that problem with our german shepherds and after we changed their food, the problem stopped.

Please don't blame your dog, it isn't his fault and he can't help it if his food is giving him gas anymore than you can. He's probably a lot more uncomfortable from the gas than you are, lol.

Good luck.

Why do you fart? You fart because of what you eat. Right or wrong? Your dog is farting nasty because of what you are feeding him. Ask your vet what foods would be better to feed your dog. I do understand what you are going through. I have 3 doberman pinchers . The daddy , the mommy and the baby and boy oh boy does daddy pass some serious gas if he gets a hold of table scraps. Since the dad and son sleep with me I try to make sure no one gives him anything but what he is supposed to eat. It was so bad one night that it burned my nose and woke me up and I left the room and slept on the couch. They also sell some stuff that you can add to thier food that will get rid of the bad smelling farts. Your dog will always fart but you can get rid of the smell by changing his diet. I feed my dogs 2 lbs of cooked liver and dry food (old roy) or Pedigree and as long as they only get this to eat no smells. By the way you can buy a whole cow liver which weighs like 35 lbs for about 6.00 . Thats what I do and then cut it up and put it in bags and freeze it. Its way cheaper than can dog food and can dog food will cause smelly farts. At least it does mine. Oh yes the liver I cook in a bowl with alittle water in the microwave this way it has juice to add with the dry food.

My red-nose pit does the same thing. She is only like 5 months old and clears a room with the same silent stinky farts. We call her the gas princess. I have been asking around about the matter becuase I love the dog to death but something has GOT to be done about this gas. The vet told me that I could try half a pill of Beano with her feedings and see if that helps. It's worth a try.

He farts for the same reason you fart! Dog farts are just nasty. Do you feed him table food? Maybe you should try a different brand of kibble.

To me, dog farts smell like gun powder and a human fart.

We have a boxer with this gassy problem....we changed his food to lamb and rice (suggested by our vet) and it's helped quite a bit. Though I will have to say, it's definitely not a cure all...but at least it's not as much! lol
