Look no further than the new Hyundai Verna CRDi with variable geo Turbo. It has a 100 horses and a lot of diesel torque across the range which should take care of your loaded highway driving. It costs about 8 Lakhs but you should check prices in your city. The other option is a Honda City VTEC which has about the same power in petrol, very good city dynamics, loads of space, and comes at about 9.25Lakhs.
Have you considered seating more than 5? The Mahindra Scorpio is wonderful to drive - more power and torque than anything else in its class. The CRDe DX variant at 8.4 Lakhs is a great buy

Baleno; its 94bhp and will cost you close to 6.25 (basic). Rest all will be 8+. Accent is good but not worth buying compared to Baleno.

Someone said Verna - please be aware, its price is 8+ and crdi is 8.47lacs onroad in Bangalore. Also there are some cribs abt engine performance (not sure!!).
Go for Baleno (or my second hand Optra, if you are interested:)). i will give for 6 lacs.
