Find a month old kitten then with your hand slowly reach out and gently stroke the little one from the top of its head then down its little back . THey really like to get thier cheeks scratched too. I am being sarcastic since you must have a month old kitten around that you want to pet. Just pet it and be gentle and thats it unless it is a wild kitten then you will have to catch it first.

With your Finger tips. You can pet it like normal but some people are too rough.

Lightly massage it's little belly, it probably likes it's head and chin tickled the most. Pick up as much as posible.

When Kittens are born and they are supposed to be domesticated, your supposed to touch them and handle them so that they get use to humans, some people do not do that for months and their Cats grow up Mean and aggressive and attack humans.

Gently. I would pick it up, cuddle it, and speak to it softly while petting it gently. According to animal behavioralists, the most important socialization with humans is between 1-6 weeks old, so this is a GREAT time to teach it that humans are kind...

Good question!
