My four month old puppy-girl Poppie, sometimes stands on her backlegs when she tries to get on the couch or bed. Do you think it's bad for her little bones to do that? She never does it for long, because I pick her up.

I just read on a web site that it is bad for a SMALL breed puppy to stand on back legs or to jump a lot because their bones are small and still developing .

When a dog like a human, is young their bones are still soft and malleable, so she should be fine for now. But as she gets older this can cause the hips to shift out of socket, more so if she jump up and down on her back legs. Hope I helped,

Not when she is trying to get on things. If she was trying to do it to you then yes.

If she is a Small Breed, you might want to look into getting her steps to any surfaces you may want her on. Some people feel more confortable with their dogs in bed and the dogs feel better because that's how it's supposed to be with packs.

It is stressful for the back legs, the bones are still soft and growing. It is hard to keep them from doing it some, but it sounds like you are not encouraging it.

No, it won't hurt the dog. Anybody telling you it is somehow hurting it doesn't know much about animals.
