I am a parent and a teacher. I have spoken with my kids about what to do since they were in kindergarten. I did not want to scare them, but I wanted to at least give them a fighting chance in the situation.

At my school we practice lock downs and hypothetical situations. I am glad that we do. I am the adult and supposed to know what to do. How could ANYONE know what to do in that situation? Being prepared for the just in case makes me feel like I can do it.

As for fighting back against the gunman; he is going to shoot at you anyway. Why not get shot while fighting back? If I thought that there was even the smallest chance that we could save some lives I would lead the pack to attack and fight against a shooter. Some kids have been able to stop shooters in some of the attacks on schools.

I think it's a shame that it has come to this but it's most definitly necessary. I have a 3rd grader in Ohio, a little girl that has gone through training with her school on what to do if they are attacked at school. I'm glad they are giving the students the training/resources to have a chance to make it through a situation that a child in school should never be placed in. This is one situation where I can't be there to protect her so I would rather she be able to protect herself.

It's not a good idea at all,we're talking about
someone with a weapon and ready to die !
The best solution is to prevent them from entering the school in the first place.
Unfortunately,WE'RE NOT IN KANSAS ANY
ANYMORE !
