My guess and yes my s/o and I have this same problem..
cats are curious
By nature, the cat is an explorer and is constantly on the hunt - not always for food, but also to satisfy his/her quest for the unknown.
Cats have a very powerful need to check out their territory from time to time, which could also include you their "mommy" or "daddy", and they may wounder what the person they love is doing, Remember most cats are social animals.
There may even be something that has to do with his breed or past..
Considering that cats evolved practically as desert animals in climates that were very dry, it's not surprising that they aren't overly fond of water. There just wasn't very much water around. In reality, though, virtually any cat who has been exposed to water since kittenhood may enjoy it, and may even delight in taking the occasional bath. Cats are also natural swimmers. Certain breeds do seem to like water more than others. Abyssinians have been known to join their owners in the shower. The Van cat, rare outside his native Turkey, loves to swim. Turkish angoras and Manxes also enjoy water. A wild cat, known as "the fishing cat" may be the most unique. This one actually swims to catch fish. Called the Bengali Mach-Bagral, nature gave him extra-long claws, which he uses like fishhooks to spear them. This fishing cat is found in Nepal, Burma, Southern China, and parts of India.
so there are some reasons why cats do this. I like the one he/she loves his mommy and wants to be near the person he/she loves.
Now if I could only train "Dot" to use the toliet and flush.

When I was house sitting for a friend who had a house cat it would ALWAYS come into the bathroom to use it's litter tray when ever I was taking a relaxing bath. Not very nice to suddenly be greeted with cat poo smell :(

One of mine comes in there everytime I go. She peeks around the shower curtain and watches me shower (she's probably thinking how wierd it is that I get in there every day and get wet). She also wants me to brush her when I fix my hair. So I just moved her brush to the bathroom and we groom together in the mornings! I guess it's a togetherness thing accompanied by the curiousity built into the cats!
