I think powerful churches that want to dominate try to misrepresent secularism because they know it can prevent their religion from dominating over all other religions, they are really against freedom of religion for anyone but themselves.

Very good reason to keep a nice wide separation of church and state.
As an individual I want everyone to have total freedom of worship, as long as it doesn't injure anyone. Taking freedom away from one, actually inhibits freedom for everyone.

My church may see the issue differently, as it is partially money and power that guides churches on the higher levels.

So, some people may have their hearts in the right place, but organized religion should not be making secular laws. Make any sense?

Not necessarily....I firmly believe in religious freedom...I firmly believe that things of a religious nature are sacrasanct and that no one outside of a religion can have any authority over what any person does with regard to their religious practices. If it sin't prohibited by a persons religion then no one else can prohibit them from doing it. If it is required by their religion, no one can prohibit them from doing it. When there is a conflict between religious law and secular law, religious law should ALWAYS take precidence, regardless of which religion it is. I believe that this applies to ALL religions. Secular law should only be applied to those that have no religious belief (Athiests, agnostics and the like). Everyone else should be bound solely and wholly by their religious belief and NO other authority.

The problem is that too many people are willing to sacrifice their own freedom in order to prevent other from having theirs.

I agree, but I know you are going to get a bunch of Christers saying that it is not true. When in reality all the Christian denominations may unite to throw out other religions, but then go after each other throat. Same goes with all other religions.

ture....

But, if you want religious freedom for all - you need to let churches have the right to say what they want.

However, they should not take away YOUR right to say what you want.

We all need to respect that
