What religion isn't a cult to some degree? They all ask for sacrifice. They all ask for prayer. They all have traditions that must be adhered to in some way. They all have leaders that sit up high and look down low upon everyone and lead. Those are the initial tenets of a cult.

I think the Roman Catholic Church is pretty much in there with the established religions of the world. Not a cult, as I think of the word. There are however, catholic cults, but learned people probably wouldn't think you were correct in saying that about the RCC.

Definition I found, for cult: : a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious; also : its body of adherents

Sure. Ask Jesus.

He's the one who started it, and he's still the heavenly CEO.

The apostles were most certainly members of the Catholic "cult".

Catholicism is the "cult" that God chose to grace with his own real and substantial presence.

Catholicism is the "cult" that preserved and compiled the canon of scripture (known as "the Bible" to most non-cult members).

Catholicism is the "cult" whose members died in the Roman colliseum, so the whole world could someday be converted to Christ.

Catholicism is the "cult" that constituted 100% of all Christianity in the world for the first 1500 years of modern day history.

And since every present Christian denomination has its' roots in the Catholic Church, they're all "cults" too.

When Jesus returns at the end of the age, he's coming back for his very own "cult".

Catholics refer to their "cult" simply as "the Church".

While it is true that it does have some hallmarks of being a cult, it is generally not regarded as being one.
Hallmarks
central dogmatic leader
the leader demands devotion to what he says
his words are put on a par with the Bible
the leader regards other churches as not Christian

The reasons not:
-they uphold the cardinal doctrines of Christianity on
-the nature of God
-salvation is by Grace
-the Bible is inspired
etc.

The catholic church is a religious sect and basically there isn't much difference between a sect and a cult, religious sects use cult as a derogatory name for other competing or new sects they want to diminish basically...it's all about politics and power.

It's actually the original Christian church, and up until about 500 years ago, it was the only one. Even if you want to staple its beginnings to Constantine, it's still a good 800 years older than any Protestant denominations.

Jesus said that the gates of Hell would NOT prevail against his church. But, evidently, the gates of Hell ARE prevailing when so many priests keep raping children on a weekly basis. The gates of Hell prevail when you start praying to anyone/anything other than God, too. Is it a "cult" though? I don't know, if the shoe fits, wear it. "By their fruits ye shall know them."

Yes. This church is pagan except that they teach Jesus is divine and the Trinity a few other essentials. Catholics are not taught the authority of the Bible but the authority of the Pope. Tradition is their guide, not the Word of God. They also curse to Hell all Protestants for believing that one is saved by grace alone by faith alone in Christ alone. They teach you have to work your way to Heaven. They also pray to dead people, which is a great sin. They exalt Mary to Godhood and worchip her. They worship idols and took the second Commandment out and brokt the tenth in two.
