Just a mech engg is not enough for the industry today.. as these are the days for the specialists !! so try to specialise in design, manufacturing, procurement, cad-cam, robotics etc. This will enhance your job opportunities. Next you SHOULD complete MBA finance. This MBA will help you grow into the corporate levels, as you will not remain an Engineer for ever !! One day you will be a Manager wherein you will have to manage Time, Manpower and Money.
Wish you all the best !!

What is best depends on the girl's personal preference. Typically, though, you could search the gender ratio for each discipline (branch), to see what the norm is. In my first common year, most of the female students went into chemistry. Some went in to civil. Only 1 or 2 tried mechanical or electrical. None were in software engineering.

There are ME's everywhere, in almost every industry imaginable.
Where you go, what kind of work you do, what industry you are in and any specialization you may have is dependent on your interests.
Ask yourself what you like doing and develop your skills in that area.
I've worked in the aerospace, appliance and energy indistries in a variety of positions. My expertise is in noise/acoustics/impact, testing, data acquisition/analysis and developing test procedures and equipment. A lot of the things I do seem more like the things EE's do.
