It's a little bit of everything. On just about every channel, sex is paraded as a normal, every day, average thing. At school, their friends brag about the sex they get and lie even harder about the sex they don't. At home, put the blame on the parents who don't care what their kids do, or who don't care when their kids come home, or use the television as a babysitter.

It has to do with the simple fact that the biological factors that influence sex drive are accuring at earlier and earlier ages. Add to that the fact that too many people don't tell younger children about sex, so that they are prepared for those urges when they happen, it's inevitable. If you don't tell a your girl that it is possible to become aroused when someone touches them in a certain way, or what arousal feel like, then they won't know NOT to act on those impulses when they occur.

The last report I saw on the subject listed the average age of Menarchy (the age at which menstruation starts) as 9 which means that there are a significant enough number of girls under that age to make it the average. IF we ehlp them to understand the biological, hormonal factors that are behind those urges, we can help them to resist.

Unfortunately, too many people are reluctant to talk about anything sexual with children under certain ages, and all too often then have already heard the wrong information from friends, or others at school, or at other places where they are aoround other kids. Some would even accuse anyone who tried to teach those children about sex as being abusive. Mind you in Europe, sex education is part of the required curriculum in some through the entire education process and they dont' have these problems, but then they are far more open on the subject then most Americans, and it is that lack of openness that prevents those younger ones from having the information they need to avoid being sexually
active too soon.

No one wants to think about the fact that their 8 year old even HAS a libido, let alone how to help them to control those urges.

There is, also, an alternate theory that these changes are simply a part of normal evolution as though there is going to be some need for people that age to be able to reproduce, some impending global change that our physiology is responding to on an instinctual level.

Either way, there is no stopping the change, all that can be done is to help them do undestand these feelings and to not be controlled by them...

Okay I have heard of kids sexually maturing at a young age, but I did not think that young. My niece I believe had her period at 8, but for the most part I have heard boys as young as 10 sexually maturing. Anything younger than that and a boy can't really keep it going. I would do some research on that!! I mean I would agree that sex may have exploded, but this is not a new thing this has been going on since the 70's maybe even earlier I can't remember the actual date of the top of my head. I would have to ask as well was the sex concentual because that has unusually been on the rise just in the past 10 yrs. The numbers of malestation, sexual abuse, rapes, etc... Have just about tripled. The amt of male rapes in their teen have an increase as well. Check your facts because I don't believe kids are having consentual sex younger and younger these days, but sexual preditors have increased these days.

Kids were always having sex young. Things that go on today isn't the only time humans existed and done crazy things. Think back to the old European days where yong teens became kings and queens and had sex before 20. And died at 40.

And don't be fooled. Kids are no more maturer now than 20 years ago. Don't believe the hype of the media that show sitcoms of stupid parents and einstein kids. This culture portrays kids as innocent and smart when no one is innocent, and smarts don't just happen because your young. You have to live and learn intelligence.

young children have continually had sex at a cushty age. human beings can in basic terms brag about it more effective now because there is the internet. you at the instantaneous are not the first human being to be conscious this, this question receives revealed on the following a minimum of two times an afternoon. decrease than 1/2 of the 14 years olds i comprehend are having sex. i'm particular there is a few that gave into peer pressure in spite of the indisputable fact that it's not the media, it really is everyone's fashionable component to blame. that is not as huge as you imagine. loosen up and stop aggravating about different peoples' organisation.

The media how they are raised. the society how we now put models and signs and everything that younger is better allowing children to dress like adults shirts with bust skirts showing the crack of the butt. And the world view that it is acceptable. Of course it is going to leak into what it is basically about children having sex. It is cultural acceptance.
In China the emperor had 11 year old concubines, and they had no control over who would have sex with them, but it was acceptable to society. No DCF came knocking on there door cause they felt have sex with a child was premitable. We need to look in the mirror are we getting that way?

I'm a little panicked about this too. I see some questions on this site from people I know I don't want to be answering, because I don't want to give sexual advice to some underage. My daughter is five, and I'm just dreading what's around the corner. Maybe I'm being too worried, but I definitely have my concerns.

To answer more specifically, I think our changing media driven culture and greater access to sexualized programming on TV, radio and the Internet certainly play a role. Just means parents need to pay that much more attention to the messages our children are exposed to (or hopefully not exposed to).

I think it's both. These days there is too much sex on tv and in music and everywhere you go. I'm 29 and even though there was already a lot of sex in the media when I was growing up, it wasn't as bad as it is today. I was 25 when I first had sex but I think it's because I'm shy and i suffer from social anxiety

I say definitely the media influences a lot but then also the parents because they are allowing the children to do this. In TV programmes kids are being shown doing the stuff so they think they have to live like this. If parents are strict then this wouldn't happen.

I think it is both. Sex is everywhere and it sells, but I grew up in the 90's and I'm a 19 year old female that is still a virgin. My parents instilled morals and values in me and for me to have self-confidence in myself and a lot of these kids aren't being raised well by their parents and have a poor homelife. It's really sad. It's okay for people to have sex, but adults, not children. It's insane and makes you wonder where the heck their parents are while they are doing this crazy stuff! They don't realize the consequences of their actions at such a young age and it only spreads disease and STD's around.
