How does it differ most from Christianity?

Just wondering what the main premise is.....like, with Catholics....the goal is to become as Christ-like as possible.

The basic belief system in Islam is, if others do wrong to you, then get revenge on them with a car bomb.

First, Islam is not a single monolithic faith and, just like Christianity, comes in many varying forms. The majority of Muslims worldwide are Sunnis, so this answer is going to be oriented toward Sunni belief and therefore incomplete. To oversimplify a complex faith immensely, the basic premise is similar the other Abrahamic faiths (like Judaism and Christianity). There is one omnipotent God and he occasionally communicates directly with humanity by way of intermediaries (angels, prophets, etc.). Islam recognizes Jesus as a prophet of Allah, but does not consider him to actually BE God. Muhammad is considered to be the final and greatest of God's prophets and it is through him that God (Allah) dictated the Qur'an, which is the most important of the scriptures because it is the only one that was directly revealed, that is, that it is God's own words and not the words of divinely inspired men.

Muslims are expected to follow what are popularly referred to as the "Five Pillars" of Islam:

1) Shahadah - declare that "There is no God but God and Muhammad is His Prophet"
2) Salat - prayer five times daily
3) Zakat - charity
4) Sawm - fasting during the month of Ramadan
5) Hajj - pilgrimage to the Ka'bah at Mecca (Saudi Arabia) one time, if possible

Even more generally, though, Muslims are expected to surrender themselves to God, obey the Qu'ran (which is interpreted very widely), and follow the example of Muhammad and the other prophets, INCLUDING (but not limited to) Jesus.

hi, The six easy beleifs of Islam are: a million) Allah (the only god) 2) His Angels 3) His Messengers 4) His books (Quran, Bible, Taurat, Zaboor) 5) The final day (and lifestyles after death) 6) destiny (that's stable or undesirable comes from Allah). Muhammad (S.A.W) married a touch woman named Aisha and she or he replaced into mature (she had reached her puberty yet she replaced into of a touch age). i'm hoping I helped. :) Edit: some human beings mentionned the 5 pillars of Islam. The pillars of Islam are actually not the beleifs however the responsibilities. Please don't get puzzled,

To submit ourselves totally to God. Muslims believe the more you obey God, have faith in him, and strive to please him, the more at peace you will be. We follow the examples of prophets in the Bible and Quran, so that we can get closer to God. We are advised to not associate partners with God, but give charity to family and the needy, take a pilgramage to Mecca (Located in Saudi Arabia). Have faith in all the previous revelations and prophets known and unknown, believe that Muhammad(PBUH) is the Last prophet of God and descendent of Abraham. Believe in Angels,
and reward and punishment for deeds. And believe in the Last days and judgment days Hell and Paridise. Pray to God daily at particular times during the day, do good deeds, and uphold the instructions of the prophets.
Basically, Islam, Christianity, and Judiasm is the same religion. Because all our from the same God, the only God. The only difference is where we place Jesus (PBUH). we believe Jesus taught his followers to worship God and God alone. And we do not believe he was murdered.

4:159] Everyone among the people of the scripture was required to believe in him before his death. On the Day of Resurrection, he will be a witness against them.

the first thing before anything is submit and worship the one universal God. the God of Adam & Eve, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. He is not three, neither He is Jesus, but He is the creator of everything.

2nd do your prayers (5 times a day), give charity, fasting, help the needy, be kind toward the orphans, women, hungers, be very kind toward your parents, and even mercy with the animals.

give peace to those who give peace to you, give mercy to whoever on earth so God can give mercy to you. be kind toward your neighbour, push the good behavior over the evil one, forgive, be friend with your enemy, be patient, remember the day of judgement...
