The free version of limewire is ab-based. This means that Limewire is holding your details like your name, address, telephone number and even your bank details. Once you have downloaded 900 files, they will send a bill to your house. To prevent this from happening, download limewire pro or you can make a new folder and have all of your songs saved to that. If you save them in the shared folder, limewire will have a track of what you have downloaded. I am using limewire pro and i find it much easier.

Yes and No...Limewire is safe if your protect your comuter-I've had it for 3 years now. Other people talk about morpheus and bearshare being safer. It's all the same principle....you're downloading from someone else's computer and if they have a virus, you'll get it. That's why it is very important when you are using ANY P2P program to keep your virus protection updated.
Think of it as having unsafe sex with million of people. Odds are...you're bound to get something if you don't use protection!

I have limewire and love it! I've downloaded hundreds of songs with no problem other than some people don't always get the artist right. It's fun and it's easy. If you have a I Pod you can put the music in i tunes and download to I Pod. Or burn your dream C.D.'s, just the songs you like without having to hit skip.

Dude.... LIMEWIRE F-ing SUCKS. Dont mess with them or Kazaa or the entire Gnutella network. Its packed full of spyware and tracking programs. Im not paranoid, I just know this for a fact because I got busted for copyright infringement and piracy a few years ago from using them for P2P connections. Also, make sure you check all the hidden files those programs leave behind. When you download using them it places multiple copies of the files into other folders you dont know about. Thats how it got me. Just thought you shold know.

I have been using limewire for almost a year now. I did not have any safety problems with it.
Just have a good anti-virus program installed in your computer and keep it updated everytime you use it. I suggest McAfee.

some spyware catchers put lime wire on their list . But i use it and no problems except there are more and more viruses and trojans appearing these days as downloads- you had better have a good antivirus system running when u use limewire.

yes it is quite safe, but some of what you want to download is not safe, i use it every day, and i have Norton Anti Virus running auto protect as soon as my pc fires up, it use's some resources but it also detects the sh_t files that are out there, so if you have a good virus program, download away, but remember to scan the file before you open it,, happy down loading and good luck..

Yes, it's safe. Just don't go downloading hundreds of songs per day or whatever... it is quite bulky, though, so I hope you have a fast comp!
