I used to know how you feel and it kinda sucks. My mom never wanted me to dye my hair b/c it's soo hard to get back to your natural color and sometimes tends to be more dry. If you do color it, the color does tend to fade sometimes. But there's no way it'd turn grey-that goes with old age, and your hair can get stripped of your natural color if you bleach it or dye it red, so don't do that. And once you dye it, you're going to have to do it like every month or every other month and it gets pricey too! So that's probably why your mom doesn't want you to. I can totaly understand why you'd want to do it. My suggestion would be to ask her for highlights, not all over color. Tell her that highlights add more depth to your hair, and really bring out your face shape and eyes! Ask nicely, not begging, to see if she'll let you try it and if you don't like it than you'll let it grow out. (even tho you'll probably love it). Make sure you let her know that it's what you want not b/c everyone's doing it. If you do get highlights, just get a few face-framing pieces, in 2-3 shades lighter than your haircolor. It's a way of expressing yourself and if you can wear makeup than why not doing your hair how youwant it. Maybe try asking to do it when your officially a teen, like on your birthday as a bday present!

Hi fashion chick..
My advice would be to..
Buy some Sun-In type product (at any Drugstore or Grocery store), then spray it on before you go out into the sun and after a couple times, your hair will get considerably lighter.. light brown. It will look as if you bleached streaks of your hair, or all of your hair.. depending on how much you put. This way, you can tell your parents that it was only spray, and that you didn't know how drastic it would be. But be careful though.. this is permanent. Spray just a little bit on for a more "natural highlights", sunkissed look. Good Luck with everything!

P.S. Personally, I'm sure you'll look great with minimal highlights (just a shade or so lighter than your real color).. just try to not go overboard with this your first time. And no sweetie, your hair will not turn grey.

what??? your hair will be gray like an old person when you're 17 if you dye it now? that's not true.

i would suggest going to your hair dresser and asking her what color dye or highlights would look best on you. save up money so that you can pay for it yourself (expect highlights and a cut to be around $100-$150, and a little bit less if you dye it). but keep in mind that both of these require upkeep - every 3-4 months you will have to pay to have it re-highlighted or re-dyed.

a good, inexpensive way to make your hair slightly lighter in the summer is to put lemon juice on the parts that you want to be lighter when you go out to sunbathe. that's what my friend and i do in the summer.

Miss Fashionista: Pour some hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle and spray it all over your hair. Spend a couple of hours in the sun. The sun will react with the Hydrogen peroxide and lighten your hair up. Its a main ingredient in many hair lighteners. Do this gradually...you don't want to dry your hair out. Wash you hair after you do this each time and condition it so your hair doesn't dry out. Hydrogen Peroxide usually comes in the brown bottles in the bandaid sections of the drug store. Its what your mom pours on your wound and makes it fizzle.

If your hair does get dry, just put condtioner directly on your hair dry. Leave in for an hour, then jump in the shower and rinse it off. This intense conditioning technique works better on dry hair- don't bother shampooing as it will just rinse off all the healthy oils.

So technically...you aren't dying your hair. Just lightening it. ;-P

No..... your hair wont turn grey! It just seems as though they dont want you to dye your hair. Since you are only 12, i wouldn't recommend dying your hair, but if you insist, ask if you can get a semi permanent hair color dye, although the results wont be as dramatic as a permanent dye, it is washable after about two weeks or so. Just tell your parents that you dont want to dye your hair a wacky color, you just feel as though you want a lighter shade of color.

When you style your hair - particularly if you're lightening it - you put stress on it. Over the long term, it can cause your hair to become dry and brittle, and starting so young makes it more likely that will happen.

The only thing you can do at this point is to do what your mom says.

YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR HAIR COLOR LIGHTER? YOU DONT HAVE TO DYE IT!!! TRY SUN-IN SPRAY. YOU JUST SPRAY IT ON.. USE A BLOW DRYER OR GO IN THE SUN... AND IT DEFINATELY GETS YOUR HAIR LIGHTER (to even make it go blonde.... you'll end up using the whole bottle...)

my friend uses this ALLLLLL the time whenever she's dissatisfied after she dyes her hair and wants it lighter.

and plus, it's cheaper than hair dye. only around 6 bux. =D HAVE FUN!

Only colors like purple and pink can rob the hair of it's natural pigment, but it can only turn blonde or gray, not gary. You're probably trying to look more mature, but I'd work on your spelling first. Please limit your question marks to one per sentence.

If your hair is really dark, it won't turn out very well if you try to get it lighter. So if you end up doing it at all, have them do it in a salon.

just go get it done or buy some at the store and get someone to do it.
dont go to far from your naturally colour unless its profetional.
if you do highlights just put a few in randomly so it doesnt look obvious.
