It is genetically modified. The special chromosomes of an animal or plant is taken out and injected to another animal. This make the plant or animal have some other properties. It is good, but some vegetarians are afraid that the plants might have animal strains in them and so on and so forth.

A genetically modified food is created by choosing the genes that will produce a product different from and the original. It is not better or worse than the original foodstuff. The main benefit is producing a plant that is resistant to some infection without the use of chemicals.

Not at all. The only reason to genetically modify foods is to naturally protect them from bugs (reduces need for pesticides), make them produce more (crop management) and make them immune to attack by bacteria/viruses. That's all GMO really intends. Personally I'm hoping for the day when ALL foods are GMO. Right now the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is studying bacteriophages -- viruses that kill food-borne illness bacteria. These viruses only attack Salmonella, E. coli, and other nasties that could be on our food. They can be eaten without harming any other organism, because if it's not a food-borne bacteria, the virus isn't interested. The studies I saw (last year in a Microbiology class) targeted E. coli H7:157, the nasty E. coli that causes food recalls. They grew lettuce and spinach, contaminated them with E. coli, then sprayed the veggies during processing with water containing the virus (bacteriophage) being studied. The result was 95% of the E. coli bacteria were DESTROYED by the virus! Imagine a world where you never had to worry about E. coli? THAT would be COOL.

Genetically Modified food is no different to your body than eating domesticated animals or crop plants that humans have been eating for thousands of years. All farm animals and crops were "genetically modified" by selective breeding. Anyone that tells you that GM food is harmful or wrong is speaking only from ignorance.

the genes of the seed are modified to be resistant to various crop diseases and to hold up better in dry weather, it has no affect on the person who eats it.

That's been discussed in a lot of internet forums. Check out these search results about the European Union's ban on genetically modified foods:
