it's called trust.
when my boyfriend is not here to tell me he loves me and he's out somewhere else and he says it.... i still believe him...
he doesn't have to be face to face with me for me to believe what he's saying.

Hi. I don't agree with the above answer, because trust is always based on SOMETHING-- it is built over time based on knowing each other.
My opinion is-- it is simply too easy to hide in a long distance relationship. Perhaps that is partly why so many people choose such a relationship
If you have a tendency to have trust issues and to think that people are lying to you, all the more reason to date someone local so that you can find out who they really are up close and personal.
I've had 2 major long-distance relationships in my life, and I would never do it again. Neither one deliberately lied to me, but they did inadvertantly misrepresent themselves.
I did eventually turn one of them into a rather nice friend. (His one and only daughter's 1st birthday party is TOMORROW, and I am very much looking forward to going.)
Both long-distance relationships, however, were way too hard on me, and I would not go for a third.

this is hard, because you can't see their reaction. maybe you should hold off the i love you's until you're actually face to face.
