The problem is I have already been in the U.S. Airforce for 2 years 9 months and got diagnosed with OCD and I was medically discharged under honorable conditions. It has been over 3 years since then I want to go back in and do it right this time. I believe that the OCD had a lot to do with maturity and the fact that I wasnt ready yet. I want to be a Navy Seal more then life itself. Does anybody have any advice on training or if it is even possible to get back in the military under the Navy under a waver or anything because I really want to go to Coronado to BUDS training I want to be a Seal really really bad. Any help would be most helpful. Thanks in advance if any Navy Recruiters see this call me at 5133495568. Thanks my name is Travis.

Seals are the "best of the best" so to speak and any medical problem is grounds for dismissal. They weed people out for just about anything to ensure the integrity of their force and they can always find guys to fill the uni's. Sorry, but I don't think you'll get much consideration.

Trying to go back into the military for anyone with a medical discharge is going to be a huge mark against you. Navy Seals are a very prestigious and perfect form of human being practically without flaw. There are alot of people who try and don't stay Seals for long - or don't make it through the weeding out process for a myriad of reasons and then they go on to do other things in the Navy. If you were going in and ended up not making it - would you find a way to drop out of the Navy again? I think that would be their question. They don't want to invest all kinds of money into someone who is going to quit when they don't get what they wanted from the Navy. You can try your best but there are no guarantees at all ever with the Navy. There is sheer effort, expertise, brains but you have to have some luck not to end up with some other illness, injury or whatever to where they wouldn't let you be a seal. But, if it's something you really want to do - don't give up trying by any means - just remember that you really should stick to your commitment as much as possible if you do go back in - they will probably make your initial training harder than you were expecting.

Probably not, but it is possible. However, if you were discharged medically, and you can provide documentation that the problem is under control or has gone away, then I suppose the Navy might consider you, but not the SEAL's. You must pass several psychiatric evaluations, and if you have any history of mental problems there is no spec op group that will accept you. I do know two people that have been able to join or reenlist into the Navy. One part of the small boat detachments and the other is in the Naval Infantry (other wise known as the Sea Bees or C-B's).

Do you think of the SEALs go top to the media and say: "howdy, we rescued Captain Philips!" or "howdy, we killed Osama!" The journalists parent it out from some loose-lip corrupt sturdy. i've got by no potential heard one SEAL declare they have been the final. THE MEDIA DOES. provide me an occasion of a SEAL being boastful or a SEAL cussing to journalists, please. Books are written with the help of former operators from each unit. have confidence me. i will think of of two books off the authentic of my head written with the help of former Delta tension contributors, Charles Beckwith and Eric Haney. The final time the SEALs made the information replaced into while a helicopter malfunctioned, crashed, and resulted interior the dying of three or 4 SEALs. activities like that usually make the information, inspite of the unit. each time greater suitable than 4 absolutely everyone seems to be killed in an IED attack, it gets stated on the information. The time formerly that, they have been interior the information for an ordeal over terrorist abuse. It replaced into an exceptionally arguable prosecution, that's why it made the information. CAG made the information back in 2001 while they have been chasing down Osama. They made the information in 2003, as properly, while searching down Saddams officers in Iraq. CIA unhappy made the information in 2001, while the dying of a tragic operator resulted in a Taliban insurrection. I agree, each pre-teenager desirous to be a SEAL is stressful. yet, it is via fact the SEALs are prestigious and youngsters decide for to look dazzling to their friends.

Hi Travis,

First, you might want to check your discharge papers and see if you are eligible to re-enlist. Some medical discharges prohibit re-enlistment. If it does though, you might want to have a chat with a Navy Recruiter and see if it's possible to have that changed.

It may be possible to have an appointment with a Navy psychiatrist to determine if your symptoms are such that they would prohibit enlistment.

As far as training, do lots of running, lots of weights and push-ups to build up your upper body. Lots of swimming, and if you have a pool or lake deep enough, spend some time with breath alone at the bottom, to become familiar with it.

Spend some time holding your hands behind your back and doing some swimming that way.

SEALS have to be in as good shape as any of the top special forces. You have to handle not only physical, but mental stress as well.

I wish you luck,

--Dee
