"The vestiges of pagan religion in Christian symbology are undeniable. Egyptian sun disks became the halos of Catholic saints. Pictograms of Isis nursing her miraculously conceived son Horus became the blueprint for our modern images of the Virgin Mary nursing Baby Jesus. And virtually all the elements of the Catholic ritual - the miter, the altar, the doxology, and communion, the act of "God-eating" - were taken directly from earlier pagan mystery religions."

"Nothing in Christianity is original. The pre-Christian God Mithras - called the Son of God and the Light of the World - was born on December 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days. By the way, December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus. The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Even Christianity's weekly holy day was stolen from the pagans."
It is extremely hard for a Christian believer to process this data, but nonetheless it is true. All of the "sacred rituals" of Christianity, and all of Christianity's core beliefs (virgin birth, resurrection, etc.) come straight from pagan religions that were popular around the time of Jesus. Articles like this and this can help you learn more. Once you understand the fundamental truth of Christianity's origins, the silliness of this whole thing becomes apparent.

What do you mean believe? The first 40 some odd books are actually Jewish. That's a fact, not a belief! The institutionalized religion of Christianity was put in place by a slave driving, control hungary empire known as the Romans. The Bible was molded and adapted (The New Testament and the translation of the older Jewish text) to control people. There was no real concern about what was actually real. It was just suposed to make people feel guilty, fear and become confused enough to where they are easily controled and led!!! According to Christians today, I'll go to hell for saying these things, but I'm willing to spit truth and go to hell rather than live off of false beliefs!!! : )

Hi Ivyvine. None of the Bible was adapted from other religions or cultures. The Old Testament and the New Testament are one continuous thread that lines up perfectly.

We must remember that the Word of God has always been in the world. It was here when Adam and Eve lived on the face of the earth.

We read in Genesis 4:3-4 "And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof..."

Here we have Cain offering a meal offering and Abel offering a lamb. How did they know about the practice of offerings? It was God who verbally gave them this kind of law. Later on, in the days of Moses, God spelled it out and It was written down in the book called the Bible. But long before this was done, God had given His commands directly to mankind. So mankind knew many laws of God without having a written record.

God tells us very clearly in 2 Peter 1:21 "...that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."

As you can see by these verses that God has not allowed the Bible to be influenced by any other teachings. The Bible only and in it's entirety is Gods Word.

Absolutely none. Other religions and cultures adapted portions of the Bible into their false books to give their teachings credibility.

Very little.

Most of it is historical -- a record of the Jewish people, their leaders and wars, their teachers (prophets) and their ancestors, plus the ministry of Jesus Christ and his apostles.

Even the so-called poetical books fit into the historical picture fairly well. The psalms are mostly from King David, 90% of the Proverbs from King Solomon.

Fact is that it is more likely that other western cultures get their stories, etc. from the Jewish histories than the other way around, and the teachings etc. from the eastern cultures (China, India, etc.) don't have much in common with the Bible.

This is absolute rubbish. Obviously you have never allowed yourself to study the Bible seriously. The Bible has been authenticated with various archaeological digs as well as both religious and secular historic sources. I don't understand how people can make such outlandish statements. No one is that dumb. NO ONE!!!

I would say a lot, I think it would be highly unlikely that it just appeared outa nowhere but, that's just my belief. I don't think it makes it any less spiritual, the Bible has a lot of good teachings in it but, so do the many other religious writings from this as well as other religions.

It seems that we have taken a great deal from other civilizations. No faithful Christian would agree with me but it is true. Let me ask you this though Did God exist before Christianity? If so were? God has always been around but i believe he has used a different name or quoted his words in different ways depending on the civilization and its tenants. Perhaps all these other civilizations knew God in one fashion or another and perhaps we merely pulled all the good aspects from them. Either way God has found a way to reach US so be happy and content in that knowledge. Peace.

Interesting question, I was asking a similar one the other day, but without religious connotations.
Like you kinda think that maybe more than one person would have the idea to make fire!
but then again maybe not, and everyone was very cold for a while!

About half of it. It might be more. The geniology and some of the history might be accurate and Hebrew but The laws are almost all directly from the cuoltures around them. Thje names of god are direct plagarisms, as is Genesis.(all thre of the myths told in the book are stolen. It goes on.
