St. John's Wort. I don't think sam-E is an herb.

I tried the former and it didn't work for me. Haven't tried sam-E. I prefer the meds that have been tested and approved by the FDA process. You never know what an herb can do. Maybe when they have better testing methods for them. But for now I play it safe.

Pure omega-3 from fish oil capsules had some positive effects on me also. Make sure it's pharmaceutical-grade, though.

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Depression Free Method?

5-htp has more of the active ingredient necessary to improve mood; but StJohn's Wort is less expensive...please note that these will takee longer to kick in than meds(which may take upo to 6 weeks)so please give it a chance And if you take the SJW take more than the bottle recommends. When you feel a result you can then cut back...
Two things about SJW: the studies about taking it and the sun are based on sheep that eat it for food, in Chili, in the mountains near the hole in the ozone layer(I am NOT kidding) the other thing is If you are allergic to rag weed you may be allergic to this as they are related...

5-htp-start out taking this at night because it may put you to sleep(I take it if I need help sleeping). A friend of mine took it according to her naturopath and she slept at work and wet the bed one night because it put her into a coma(well kinda) He said it had never happened to anyone else and she was taking massive doses for carb cravings BUT still I am just telling you start at night...and take what it says on the bottle..

Some people swear by them, personally they didn't work for me but it has been a few years since I even tried them. I think it depends on the person. I did try that focus factor vitamin as seen on t.v. Its a bit pricey but I felt really felt a difference after taking it for a week or so. You might want to try the others as well.

St. Johns wort worked for me it takes longer to feel the effects than perscription anti-depressants. So if you do decide to try this give it a full month to decide if its helping
