I need my cousin, who is 17, to transport some closed bottles of alcohol to my apartment this weekend. When I asked my cousin, he asked if it actually was legal since their closed bottles. But now that I think about it, I don't really know; so now im asking.

DON'T DO IT. YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR COUSIN AND YOURSELF AT RISK.

Even if the alcohol is SEALED and in the trunk of the vehicle, because he is the operator of the vehicle, he is technically in possession of EVERYTHING IN THE VEHICLE. He could be charged with being a minor in posession of alcohol. Further, because YOU gave it to him, you would probably be charged with "ENDAGERING THE WELFARE OF A MINOR" which could classify you as a preditor and you DON'T want to go there.

I think it depends on the state, but I would imagine that having a minor in possession of alcohol is a risky proposition, even if the bottles are closed and the motives entirely on the up and up.

It would like a case of possession of alcohol by a minor. Although the bottles may be closed, he would still be in possession of the alcohol. Don't set him up for failure.

In Texas, yes, it is illegal. Minors may not possess alcoholic beverages. Regardless if the container is open or not they have control of the substance.

Exception is for work. Minors may serve alcohol if it is part of their employment with a business that has their beverage license.

Unopened alcohol is often think to be transported interior the trunk. no count what the age of the driving force (no alcohol open or closed is meant to be interior the vehicle). Your cousin might desire to have a felony D.L and the vehicle might desire to be insured. as long as all those comply, you're ok.

It's illegal.
Depending on your state, he can at minimum lose his license until he is 21, and you can do jail time for child endangerment or contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
You would both have record for the rest of your lives.
Why does he have to transport it for you?

What state do you live in? Can the alcohol be placed in the trunk? Generally, if the individual is driving 'normally' there shouldn't be any problem. This weekend being right before Halloween, I've noticed an increase in policy activity so I'd be careful. You can always call your local police department.

its illegal, just because its closed doesnt mean anything it still counts that he is in possession of it and im pretty sure youd get the blame for giving him alcohol even though it sounds like hes just transporting it.
