Howdy,
Actually, naming your dog doesn't have to be done today. Give him a few days to grow on you and you can get a grip on his personality. A suggestion about what NOT to name him - first, never name a dog that sounds like "no" which leaves out Joe, Moe, etc. That really gets hard for them to understand when you're using their name instead of yelling at them for being bad. Second, if you're going to train your dog, don't name it something that sounds like a command - Sit, Stay, Heel are the basics. So Bit, Ray, etc. shouldn't be on your list either. We like names that are just one word. We also think about what the neighbors will think if we're shouting the dog's name in the neighborhood! If you call your dog "Poochy" it sound cute, but your neighbors may think you're yelling "Poopie" at it!
Give it a little time and let him tell you his name. Our current bunch are Jack, Bizzy and Buddy. We've also had Hal, Donna, Gizmo, Ralph, Rose, Buster and George, to name a few. Naming just takes a little while. Enjoy puppyhood!

I vote for Moe or Bubba since he will be a bit protector for you. Pitbulls get bad reps, I think it is all in the way the owner trains them....I had one....very sweet dog...he would lick a robber to death before he would attack.
Then again....Popeye may be a better name---lol

You need to pick a name that mean's something in your family! Such as Miso, or Butter! Or call him Desert Sand! Trust me,Darling, I am only trying to help? Think, what is the name You thought of, once you required the pup? In my personal experince, my animal's name, have just came to me!

congratulations on the new friend! I believe the best way to name a pet is to watch them for a few days and something appropriate will just occur to you. you don't want to name them too soon or you may end up with a skunk named flower,if you get my meaning.
