If they're illegal, no. They shouldn't even be in this country.
If they're applying for citizenship or if they're a citizen but from a different country, then yes. If you love the US enough (and you should), then anyone should be able to join (as long as they're suppose to be here!).

When I was in the Air Force, working for NORAD, my shop supervisor was a Canadian citizen, and serving in the USAF. I don't necessarily have a problem with foreign citizens serving.
I do have a problem with Illegal aliens being allowed to enlist. One poster posed that illegals may gain citizenship by serving. The problem is that many of htese do not speak English, and that's a requirement for military service. Too, if somebody is willing to break our laws to enter the country, what's assurance do we have that they will not flaut the law once they are in the military?
One possible solution is to offer the opportunity of military service to aliens wishing to enter our country, with the promise of citizenship should they complete an honorable tour of service. With the war going on, it's likely that those applying for such a program would be highly motivated. These people would, of course, need to speak English as we don't have a bilingual military.
Just some random thoughts.

Every man and woman that lives in the United States under the age of 36 and at least 18 yrs of age should be required to serve at least 4 yrs active duty in the armed forces. As well as 8 yrs in the reserves. Step up to the plate and pull your own weight. Why are there so many loafer in the USA?

there are actually very many people from other countries who serve in the US military- people with educations and people who are not even trying to become US citizens. An example of this would be a friend of my husband's he is from Puerto Rico and actually joined the military to help pay for college.

We all bleed same color, the war machine corporation needs more grist to grind, so yes, let everyone die for no particular or stated reasoning.
No GED required, trigger finger helpful, but not required.
Women,Children,Gays,Atheists,Catholics, all can fight our dirty little war.
To deny access to a war is discrimination, and that is Politically Incorrect.

Only if they entered the country legally. My grandfather did. He joined the Army and fought in Europe during WWII, earning his American citizenship in the process.
