1. Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Always potential for re-erupting and including other regional powers
2. Indian-Pakistan issue over Kashmir
3. China-Taiwan over Taiwanese independence (US still committed to Taiwan's defense)
4. North and South Korea - could quickly spread to China and Japan
5. US in the Middle East - potential for Iraq and Afghanistan fighting spreading to Iran, Syria, et al if another mass casualty terrorist attack is linked to these sponsor states or over Iranian nuclear developments
all have the potential for going nuclear and/or spreading beyond regional status

I don't believe that there are any current regional conflicts that have a potential for world disaster. Only regional disaster.

I can only think of one at the moment, it's in the future, 2008,Hilary Clinton is elected president, the US has a second civil war. While we are fighting each other Muslim insurgents infiltrate the country while Hilary and Bill try to get national health care going again instead of continuing the Bush Doctrine.
All hell breaks loose and the world implodes, we wake up and we find ourselves laying prostrate on the ground facing Mecca and chanting God is Good, praise osama!
Wow! I have to stop drinking!

1st: China/Taiwan
2nd: North Korea/South Korea
3rd: India/Pakistan
4th: Israel/Terrorist Groups (as well as the states supporting both)
