Over the course of 2 months my son (5yrs old) had had 3 bouts of illness that include these symptoms. They occour in this order everytime... . wakes up complaining of a sore throat, lays around like he has been drugged, will not eat, then a few hours later the vomiting starts. He lays around glassy eyed and makes every attempt not to move when he does he vomits. This phase lasts about a day. Then all of a sudden as if a switch goes off . He is eating and drinking everything in sight and the flood of snot starts. The snot flood lasts about a day and he is fine.. no cough no nothing.

I think he has sinusitis brought on by allergies that is causing these symptoms. Has anyone else ever experienced this in your child or yourself.. Dr. tried to dismiss it as a cold.. Noone in the house ever gets sick and when he has a cold its different than this.
Will be going back to Dr. to demand allergy test but just wanted some feedback from others. Thanks

not the same but close. and it is allergies for my son(7) i now have him on liquid zyrtec once a day at bedtime and it worked wonders. i didn't need the tests. the color of snot dead give away.yellowish. i have had allergies for years. they caused many cases of sinus infections and strep throat. Dr has me on daily meds now and no more problems. push your Dr. he is your son you know him better then anyone demand that he tries allergy meds and then judge for yourself if that's the problem.

That sounds scary. It might be a Medical problem. I've heard of similar things from people with stents and internal medical problems. Stents transfer things from one part of the body to another,.. usually to the stumock or some other place in the disgestive.. stuff.

If he is being exposed to something he is allergic to or maybe that is POISONOUS, you better start asking him questions about what he did and what he ate the day before. You never know what happens for sure. Also think if there was any place he went like a park or a friends house. Some people are really stupid and have grass treated then just take out, knock down or ignore the tiny white signs that say to keep off and especially keep children and pets off the gras or ELSE. This is why you have to trace back immediately and think about these posiblities.

If you have an Allergy test done, keep reminding yourself that what he is allergic to now he might not have been allergic to a year ago or might not be allergic to a year from now. Also what he is not allergic to he might be allergic to in the future more might have been allergic to in the past. Allergies can be tricky like that.

Yeah, the flood of "snot" sounds like allergies. Might want to try a specialist that deals with allergies.

Yes, my son did the same way but we finally took hi to a allergy doctor as soon as we started telling him he shock his head and said that it was allergies. They ran all the test on him and he has to take a shot a week. My son is allergic to everything outside. Who figure a boy who hates the outside.
