Most restaurants use dishwasher to clean their dishes/glasses. The temp of water in the dishwater should kill the bacteria that lingers on the dishes/glasses. If you are worried about this, you may need to check out the places you are going....are they dirty? Most city have a website that you can find the health inspectors report on almost all food establishments. Hope this helps.

You could catch a cold or the flu, e-coli and hep A. This last one has been such a HUGE problem in the St Louis area that, since the deaths of several people, all the workers in the food industry MUST now get innoculated for Hep-A Frankly, I would be far more concerned about the salad bar or the food on the buffet table...think about all the unwashed body parts touching that stuff??!! Eeeeeuuuuww! It is a wonder any of us manages to remain alive!
You do know we all have an absolutely effective preventative measure that everyone of us CAN take; it prevents all of the above and more each and every time :
WASH YOUR HANDS PEOPLE!!!

No you can't get Hep B or C from drinking out of a glass. Hep A yes because it's transferred from fecal matter. Hep B and C are blood borne pathogens and can contracted from unprotected sex, or contact with blood of an infected person. You of course would also have to have a wound at the site. Hep A is curable with meds. Hep B and C not so much, C will destroy your liver. Hope this helps.

You can definitley get a cold sore from drinking from a cup from someone who had it, but i'm almost positive you can't get it from drinking out of a glass from a restaurant unless someone laced the glass with their blood im no doctor but really the chances are slim
