My partner and I have been together for 12 years, have 3 beautiful boys and have decided to get married. Majority of guests also have children so I would like them to feel welcome to bring their children. We live in the country and would like a simple but elegant ceremony and reception but due to the fact both my parents have passed away we are funding it ourselves so it also needs to be on a budget.I would love ideas for a family friendly ceremony, venue
and family friendly reception. Please help if you can.-

You live in the country? You SO can have a family friendly wedding event. Have you thought about an outdoor ceremony followed by a BBQ/picnic reception? Since everyone's got kids, you can even rent a jumper or 2. Casual doesn't have to mean sweat pants and t-shirts. Have you thought about getting a big cake from Costco? They make GOOD, relatively inexpensive cakes. Spend some time on the internet and search engine "family friendly wedings". Sure you're not the only person considering a family friendly wedding.

You can have an intimate wedding where ever you choose and you say you live in the country? What better place than there to have a party, you could have a pig roast " barn dance" or yard dance if no barn, music by a DJ or a good stereo to save money, and drinks. There must be a thousand things kids could find to do in the country, maybe have one of the relatives be "incharge" of the kids games and play so the grown ups can have a little fun of their own. In the country, for fun for friends family and children the sky's the limit, I'm sure everyone would have a wonderful time in such a relaxed atmosphere. Good luck hope this helps.

for family friendly reception how about having a fun dj, i did have a card for the perfect dj who was kid friendly, but cant find it. anyways, the dj of course plays music for all, but sometime during the reception, which by the way could be at the park since it is in september, the dj could make a time for the kid time music and play games like the hoky poky, the chicken dance and who can move the most dance, and win prizes.....this would be fun for the kids and the families to see the kids enjoying this special time too....plus you could rent a jumper for the kids to play in during the reception at the park. then have like a catering buffet at the park. sounds like fun for everyone.

A wedding at your house would save money and be a great place for kids to come to. Have favors like bubbles that the kids can play with, and be sure to play music for them (one wedding I went to was Cinderella-themed already, and the bride and groom danced to 'bibbidybobbidyboo' with the kids).
Add hot dogs to whatever else you serve to make the menu kid-friendly.
If you have activities for them like a jumper, be sure to let their parents know so they don't dress them up too much.

One thing we did to make ours more 'kid friendly' was have coloring books and crayons in a separate room so that the kids could go there to hang out with each other.

Good luck!!
