If the root of all evil is desire, then the only way to be rid of evil would be to exist in a state of neutrality. We need evil to know what good is, so if we do away with one we have to do away with both. Perhaps god is neutral, does anyone else agree?

Danny, you would find more of that spirit in Buddhism - check it out, you'll be surprised, it's exactly what they say.

The Biblical god is pretty black and white. No grays there. Existence is made up of opposites, but choices still have to be made. Just because evil exists, doesn't mean it's okay to be half evil and half good. Evil is the total absence of good. Evil is the wanton desire for destruction...acts, thoughts and ideas that bring about affliction and death. It's more than just desire. You can desire both evil and good things. I don't believe in the duality of good and evil. I believe that you don't NEED evil to have good. But like it or not, there are sociopaths in the world, and evil will always be around.

You should become "Sthitpragnya" and not neutral. Sthitpragnya means who is able to stay ineffective in any situation. And one more thing, there is no evil, so you should not do the thing that is not good for people, society or this world. If you name this act as evil, then it is OK. There is no god but if there any, he is "Sthitpragnya" and not neutral. Do you think god is something tefflon coated, to stay neutral ?

No

God said in the Bible that man knows Good and Evil just like God Does.

It was Adam, originally, that was neutral.

Didn't work for Norway and Denmark during wwII, they tried to be neutral when faced with the nazi evils and got swallowed up by that evil. All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

I sometimes believe this too, it seems to make sense to say that the whole point of life is to learn balance in all things, but then I ask myself how boring would that be. Maybe God is chaos, who knows? The not knowing is part of the fun for me.

You might need evil to know about good but that doesn't mean you actually "NEED" evil. I have a friend with cancer and it certainly makes me appreciate being healthy. However, I'd prefer if he didn't have cancer. I think I would still be grateful to be healthy.
