In the Jewish religion you are allowed to do anything if it is necessary to save a life.
Makes sense to me.

There are many stories from the beginnings of Islam about the first Muslims, especially women, being forced to publically deny their faith in order to save themselves and their family. Islam doesn't condone it, in fact it was crucial to its survival initially, but it's hard to do so and still keep that grain of faith alive and glowing inside. If it was a family member, yes, I would denounce my faith, publically at least. But I can never fool myself into really believing what I don't, especially since my faith is so involved in all aspects of my life.
Although i've never been tested, and would be a complete stuck-up to say for sure, I hope that in a situation where its only me being threatened, then I would stick to my guns and suffer the consequences. Often times one public, physical victim is so much more powerful in the eyes of the world than the thousands of spiritual ones. But one never knows the weakness of man's heart unless it is tested.

People see death as an end to life. With this in mind of course it is natural to denounce own faith to save a family member. For family members is precious and they would want to preserve their life as much as possible.
Death is not the end. With this in mind, it is reasonable that there are people who would never denounce their faith. After all, we are all going to die one day.

I am Catholic and I will never denounce my faith to any person. Even if it was to protect family or friend. My family and friends know me enough to understand that. I would try to protect them in all ways possible to me but I would never denounce or hide my faith. I love God above all else!

I would never denounce my faith. My faith would not be worth having if I didn't believe it enough to know that God waits for His children in heaven. I do not fear death; Jesus has given us victory over it. My only purpose on this earth is to bring glory to the King in His service.

I have absolute faith that if you let a family member die because yuo didn't renounce your faith, when you got to heaven or wherever, management would throw your *** out for letting a family member die.

In times of despair, you'd do anything, of course. And a family member at risk calls for desperate measures.

It’s the Faith in your heart that matters. God knows the truth of your heart.

what a mans lips utter reflects not what is in a mans heart
anything obtained under duress is not valid
of course who would not utter with his lips knowing god knows him to hold is his heart ,remains yet pure
that his deeds of the lips to save for the sake of love those he loves is not betraying the true love
the truth in the heart
only confirming it.
