I don't know. To me, infinity seems to mean direction or amount of things - while eternity sounds like a time thing.

To be eternal means to persist or endure even when all else does not.

Infinity means unlimited quantity.

Do you have a ring, take the ring look at it, it's round, no beginning no end, just round, keeps going in the same circle. Some picture it like this, some use a symbol close to the figure 8, a continuous movement, never ending. No starting point, no stopping point.

Eternity is like a circle - continuously going back to the point where you begin when you have reach the end.
Infinity is more of a description of magnitude eg. space, & power.
