I saw this really cute bedroom on a home decorating channel. It was shared by a boy and girl. It had sail boats with little boys and girls on them. The sail boats sails were red with hearts with blue boats. If you don't like that idea there's also teddy bears, I found this really cute teddy bear picnic wallpaper border that was purple and blue. My last idea is bugs and butterflies!

I don't know you budget, but we purchased our childrens bedding at Pottery Barn Kids. My son (1) & daughter (4) share a room & PB kids has a really cute line of striped & patch quilts in primary colors. We got the stripes my daughter & sons are almost identical except where my sons has red stripes my daughters has pink. They really like it. I have a few butterflys that hang from the celieng above my daughters bed & birds over my sons. It looks good & best of all my little girl was happy w/ it.

my first thought was greens and yellows maybe even purple.
or why don't you ask your three year old...they might have some good ideas too of what they may like and their younger sibling might like...they may also enjoy being included.
bugs, bears, fish, cats and dogs...animals can be a good unisex idea.
my mom decorated my room in brown bears when she didn't know if i was going to be a boy or a girl...
also you could try to split it up in some way...give them their own space to feel at home but also try to incorporate some kind of unity...
good luck!

Hello,
Well, I painted my twin girls nursery a sage green, white chair rail, light yellow. I did not want the typical pink for my girls because I thought the color pink would go with either green or yellow.
Then, I used the bumblebee theme for the nursey.
Hope this helps you................................ :-)
