It's not so silent any more. The indigenous population in particular, has suffered enormously from this and finally, are taking steps in conjunction with various State authorities to combat it. Domestic violence is getting a lot of government advertising and encouraging victims to speak out. Certainly there appears to be a lot more public support for the victims that's been generated by a greater awareness of the issue.

I would imagine it's as big and silent as all domestic violionce crimes throughout the world......No country is special...we "all" suffer......
It's painful for us all to fathom the brutality of humanity on others. Silent or not..........

i imagine its pretty big most of the time its drug and alc related but i don't know the stats but judging by all the no hopers out there i would say its pretty high

well i would like to say small but it isn't because we only know 1 percent of it. actual physical abuse isn't as high but is less damaging as verbal can be
