I'm sorry for all you've lost. All I can say is that to me it's not a choice so much as what you really believe in your heart of hearts to be true, I don't claim to understand why God allows certain things to happen and I to am having trouble most especially lately understanding why there has to be so much suffering in the world. The theory that most helps me, though it doesn't take away the pain of losing someone you love nor should it, is one that says that only through the dark times in our lives can we truly recognize the good times and appreciate them but, also that we do seem to become more aware of our true selves, of how strong and caring we can be during these times. I hope I'm making some sense, I truly pray things get better for you, stay strong.

But the ones he has been taking of late have for the most part been the ones who are going to end up in Heaven as a result of their faith anyway. No death is pretty , however, if it makes someone decide that perhaps now is the time to start believing then that live that was extinguished was not taken in vain. I believe before it is over there will be many more being taken as well as I feel we are stepping ever closer to the final battle line. All the pieces are being placed on the board but all of the key players have not been set down yet. I respect God's decision to remove whomever he deems worthy as He is the only one qualified to judge a person's true nature. All we ever see is the facade that a person wants us to think they are. A representative if you will. You can live with someone for years and still wake up one morning and realize you really never knew that person as well as you thought you did.

Just because things happen that we don't understand and that we perceive as tragic from an earthly point of view in no way takes away from God's goodness. For that matter, how can we claim anything in this world or this life for ourselves anyway? God can take anything from us at anytime because He ultimately owns everything, but the real issue isn't what happens but whether we put our trust in Him no matter what.

The first link below is an article I wrote about four years ago on why God allows tragedy.

I am very sorry for your loss.
That being said this is one of the oldest questions in the Jewish/Christian tradition. "How can an all merciful, all loving God allow suffering and evil to exist in the world?" The shortest answer to this question is that God allows suffering and evil so that he may bring greater good out of it. God sacrificed himself on a cross so that all people could be free of their sin. From deicide came salvation. This message of redemptive suffering is of great importance to the world, but sadly has been lost, especially in the U.S.A. . I know that this probably is not the most comforting answer, but one day we will understand these things in a way we could never imagine now.

I have to Remember that God is Love....a living, Loving being. God doesn't inflict pain and bring heartache....He does help pull us through. I think its the enemy that wants us to blame God and blame each other. Try the book "When bad things happen to Good People" by Leo Bascaglia (sp unsure). Pour out your pain to God in prayer, He knows how much you hurt. The lamentations of the Bible are all about people's pain--a whole book of the Bible about pain. Jobe knew the pain of this world. Jesus cried out to the Father and He was much stronger than any of us. Christ has provided for me a path filled with peace beyond all understanding. But sometimes my emotions, my flesh, cry out in angst. Its not an easy road to walk. I get frustrated with people who say they can see a reason for all things. I have had lots of pain in my life and still can't see the reason. I have a 3 year old neice with a tumor. That's one of those things that I take to God in prayer and I ask for direction and i pray for her doctors and her well being....and God gives me the strength and the grace to face another day of being helpful to her and her family rather than being so embittered and angry at the world that I wouldn't even be able to leave my house. Keep on seeking, keep on asking, keep on knocking. Our Bible promises us that you will be answered. I believe that in seeking and asking we begin to have a personal relationship with Christ and we begin to develop a faith that can carry us through all this life brings. Spend time with other Christians. If you haven't already done so, pray over your house, each room and make it a safe place where you can be at peace. I will be praying for you and your friends/family. Why is a question that comes from the enemy. What do you want me to do, Lord? Speak Lord, your servant listens. May God Bless You.

papa bear,
I wil answer you as I can. Your sentence structure is a little hard to follow.

God warned of death for what was done in the garden. And they didn't listen. Instead they did things their way. And here we are judging from our perspective. It's always the way we see things.

So you see it as God taking your loved one';s away from you. But you do not own them, He does. And He owns me.

I am a Chirstian, and I have by putting my trust in Him, decided that His way was the way I should go. So if He takes me in the next minute, I will be willing. It's His timing and His ways that are not in question by me. His promises to me was that He would resirrect me, the same as He resurrected Jesus, and that I will inherit His kingdom as an adopted son.

So everyone has the choice to make. Belong to yourself, or something else, or belong to Him.

So I lost my mother this year, and my pastor. My father is getting older too. What should I do then?

The answer is: Trust in the Lord with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength. It might not be fun, but it is a positive direction that I should go, according to Him. And I believe Him.

The Lord tests everyone. Read the book of Job in the Bible. Job lost all of his family, his health, and all of his belongings and he still praised God. Nobody can live forever, so get it into your head that people do die. I have lost loved ones, but I know they are free of pain and in a much better place than here. I wish I was with them.

Is He taking them away?
If they were saved, rejoice for them! If not.. I am terribly sorry. But know this, God gives every single person a chance to repent before they die. No one is guiltless.

My friend, here are a few Psalms for you..

"Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!" 27:14
"The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit." 34:18
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall NOT be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholds him with His hand." 37:23,24
"For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death." 48:14
"Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved." 55:22
"You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book? When I cry out to You, then my enemies will turn back; this I know, because God is for me." 56:8,9
"Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refugre for us." 62:8

God bless :)

why would got want to take people from you. that is a very misconceived notion. what would god do with them? people die that's a fact this world is full of it. the idea that god takes people is wrong. there will be a time for a persons judgment. but does not take roll call and finds there are some empty seats and goes and gets more people. god does not kill people people kill people

I'm sorry but God doesn't point his finger as people and say - ah ha - you will suffer.

I lost my dad as a kid, then my mom and within weeks my cat died and my dog ran away. ...seriously. But I didn't blame God. Life happens. I am not arrogant enough to think the my parents death is about me - no it was about them and their time. I was hurt by it, but it wasn't about me and I don't think God should rearrange the universe so that I can be happy. I have to be happy or not based on my own life.
