For the moment you can use vinegar and that will make the lice go crazy and it will be easier to take them out. But depending on how severe the case is, or even regardless of how severe the case is, you should definetely get a kit so that you can take out the eggs before they hatch some more.
Make sure you wash everything and you should also buy the spray to kill the lice and eggs that might be in your sheets and pillows.
Wash all of your brushes with hot water and clorox

There is not such a thing. If you have a house of head lice or a child with head lice, it is my opinion that you are obligated to do the following:

Treat your child with a harmless medication supplied at the pharmacy. It is labeled HEADLICE TREATMENT. It is made of all natural things and cannot and will not hurt your child.

Strip all bedding and wash in hot hot water twice. Dry in a hot temperature. Remove all coats, jackets and clothing that have been worn. Wash same.

Comp out hair. Remove all nits with comb, tweezers, scissors, dull butter knife, etc.

Entertain kids with popcorn in the tub, movies on the tv while working on scalp and hair.

It is a lot of work but it is part of being a parent. I have been a parent or foster parent foster parent for 13 years. It is not all fun and games.

Follow the directions on the bottle of lice killer. You will have to do the blankets, etc once more.

Mayonnaise, olive oil, etc will not do it, and is not cheaper. Perming hair,coloring hair, hot curlers, etc will not do it.

If you cant afford it, go to your local supermarket and tell them your situation. Or tell your doctor. Someone will give you the treatment. If you cannot find a treatment by the morning, write me, I will find it for you. For the love of Pete.

shaving cream and a razor. there is no good home remedy, other than removing the hair and the lice and eggs (nits) it lays. use medication... why the hesitation? don't allow the classmates to contract it... control it now. wash everything the child's hair could touch, and treat yourself as well.

The only home remedy I have ever heard of is gasoline. This is what people in the 30's used to do. It will work........it will also strip off a few layers a skin too.

i dont think lice is something you want to take lightly.. if you dont kill the eggs correctly, theres no point in trying to kill the live lice, because they will just re-hatch. buy a kit.. its the ONLY proven way to kill lice
