Do you believe all of it, new testament and old, or do you pick and choose only what you feel comfortable with?

I believe in the word of God, and also believe that you need to accept all of it, or none. Answers or Comments?

2 Timothy: Everything in scripture is God's Word.
What's more, there is power in the Word of God, it is a life-changing book. I don't know how it works, I don't even always understand all of it, but it does change something in me.
As for the parts I don't like or understand, I trust the Holy Spirit to reveal to me that which I need to know, when I need to know it and that which I need to do when I need to do it. I have had to go back and study many parts over and over. I think that is so the Word of God can be "hidden in my heart" to guide me and help me in times of trouble....

I believe all of it and not only because I don't want to spend an eternity in hell, but also because I love the blessings and peace the Lord God has given me since I became a born again Christian. I use to be a tarot card reader and use to go to bars and drink and all the stuff that is terrible sin. My life started to become a living disaster! Thanks to my husbands Christian family and them taking the time to talk to me and show me what I was doing to my life and my after life, I decided to give my life to God and I accepted Jesus as my saviour, after I repented all my terrible sins. We burned every tarot card and book I had after I realized it was the work of satan. This was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I know we are all sinners and I pray and ask for forgivness every day, and I stay away from places where evil lurks and I stay away from people who are not Godly and don't care. In other words, the Bible says "bad company corrupts good morals". Right now I am headed in the right direction and have never been happier. I hope this answers your question. God Bless

Those that do not accept Jesus as the Messiah lives under the law. Those of us who do live under grace. Give me grace any time. I love the Old and New Testaments. I must admit I read the New more than the Old Testament. I do not select what I think is just right for me. The whole thing is just right for me. Many answers still come from that book they call the Bible to my questions.

Yes I believe the entire word of God!! People who don't believe in it are afraid of what the Bible says. In one verse it says;
In Heb 4:12 it says;" For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates, even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart". Some people don't want to have faith in Jesus, because they either think there "not that bad" or they have to give something up, a part of themselves, it's so very sad. If they would only realize all that they will gain!

I believe the Bible as far as it is translated correctly. There were many errors made in translation, over many years and with many different people working on it. Back then every copy was handwritten and people would copy mistakes and pass them on, along with new ones. For example, in one place the Bible says a woman came out of her tent with a handmaiden. The translator wrote it that the maiden came out of her tent with a camel. This was corrected in later versions, but some mistakes have remained and can make a scripture misleading or confusing.

I also believe there is MORE word of God than just the BIble, especially since the Bible itself refers to at least 20 other writings that we've never heard of before. Where are they?

There's no way anyone can cherry-pick what they want to believe or not believe in the Bible. They can either accept it or reject it, but there's not some kind of murky middle ground for people who don't want to choose--and by not choosing, they choose to reject it. That doesn't mean we must UNDERSTAND everything--I've been studying the Word most of my life and am still befuddled about a lot of things--but because of the evidence for its historical consistency and reliability, and because I've seen the amazing change it has brought about in my life, I believe the entire Bible can and should be trusted.

In order to consider it truth you have to consider it all truth. Some people find that a difficult concept to grasp but there it is. The old testament however was strictly historical in that it gave the ground work for God's laws unto the Jews. It was handed down to them as a way to live their lives and to deal with each other. It was never meant to be handed to the gentiles at that point. The new testament was where God relented and sent his son Jesus so that the gentiles would be entitled to get into Heaven through the free gift of salvation Jesus offered by taking our sins to the grave.That one action set the scene by which the Laws that were handed to the Jews were made not binding to the gentiles. As Jesus said to the Pharisee and Saducees, Those who live by the law (Jews) and do not believeth in me will be judged by the law. Meaning any Jews who wished to believe the prophesies that Jesus fulfilled as the messiah could accept Him as their savior and come out from under the bondage of the Mosaic laws. He also said Those who live by faith, will be judged by faith. So the gentiles were finally given an intercessory through which to come to God.

All of it.

2 Timothy 3:16 (Contemporary English Version)
Everything in the Scriptures is God's Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.

P.S. Jesus himself quoted the Old Testament in many places. To be a Christian means we follow Jesus' example. Although the Christians today are no longer under the Mosaic Law, the principles still apply. It's like you have an contract and when the time comes to renew it, you change where it needs to be changed and the other parts of the old contract still stand.

I believe in God but I don't even own a Bible. I think it's a pretty contradictary document--turn the other cheek, but eye for an eye? I believe in praying and talking to God directly rather than turning to the Bible to find answers.
