"Ciudad Juarez is not Berlín"

Carlos Calderon says that, and I agree with him....we are in a modern world were we are capable of solving problems without taking this measures. The only reason for building it, is to stop illegal immigration. But building a wall will not solve it, it will only separte two contries that help each other. This will cause problems between them, and that's not the point. Mexico needs to work harder for the benefit of its people and the United States needs to make it easier for immigrants to pass legally.

I agree with you. The wall will only worsen the problem that both, Mexico and the U.S., are facing with illegal immigration. The wall is also going to make people try to cross in more dangerous ways. I agree that something has to be done about illegal immigration, but not in this way.

I also disagree w/building a fence. it sends the wrong message and builds friction between Mexico.

The only Wall in History still standing is the Great Wall of China.

I believe Bush is being pulled but the powers that be. but, he also know that Mexicans are very important for the US labor-force. Although, the US has the right to protect it's borders and the right to deport illegals. It doesn't give Minuteman and the likes to treat their like animals. give them their human dignity. most of these people are just trying to make an honest living.

There needs to be a better way. US and Mexico need to come to the table and work something out.

When we come to a middle ground that's when we have succeeded.

Funny, I can see Juarez from my back window....I live here, in El Paso, the largest border city in the US....We have the largest combined population for any border cities....There has also been a lot of criticism from the local media about the fence, they took a poll here saying 75% didn't support it.....We just don't have the problems of social decay everyone cries about here....And we do have illegals! Many are day workers, but some live here illegally.....I am not totally against the idea of a fence, because statistics have showed that tighter border security does detour criminal activity.....But we have yet to see....I agree, it does put a BIG strain on Mexico/US relationships, I wonder if it is worth it...

I wonder what kind of country Mexico might be today if they focused more on taking care of their own problems rather than trying to engineer their way into our country, you know?

What a sad and sorry spectacle...Mexico's got money, just lacking in the integrity and initiative department...

It would need substantial improvement to be compared even marginally to Berlin. Whatever it takes to stop the illegal invasion.

How is it possible that Mexico can help us? We do not, need oil, or their people. This country works and not necessarily does not play well with others, anymore. Hydrogen is the future.
