There was a time when I would have answered without a doubt yes, but something you have to understand is that the experiences and trauma that I have endured by having bipolar manic depressive disorder has made me the person I am today. This horrible monster has caused ungodly turmoil in my marriage, my relationship with my immediate family, friends, etc.... all from lack of knowledge. This is a very scary thing to have. I have seen several doctors and live with the roller coasters of this disease finally without medication. ****Please note that I definitely do not recommend this on your own without seeing a physician to be monitored for what is best in your case!!!!***** I have undergone treatment and for me I struggled with the problem of anxiety that because of my diagnosis, my doctor would not give me anything to try and ease the anxiety, therefore I began to self medicate with street drugs to exist. I have always been a firm believer against street drugs and misuse of RX medication, so having these beliefs put myself in a treatment program that dealt with drug user with bipolar and similar mental conditions. This taught me how to cope and control, as much as possible, my condition so that I could have some sort of normality in my life. I have learned how to listen to my body as to when a manic or depressive is happening therefore I could act accordingly to keep from having severe consequences from it based on my track record. This has also let my family and friends see that it is up to the individual to make the best of their situation. I also know that I can speak from experience in helping my teenage son deal with depression and issues in life that your average person can not relate to. Believe it or not it is my past has made me a better and stronger person today (present) and a role model for those who think there is no hope or future today and in the future.

I don't have bipolar but my brother does. He's both bipolar manic-depressive. because of that, hes sometimes "unstable" and it really affects him(his social life and mental health) and the family. He used to be a great student but now hes unable to attend school and do the normal things of life. Having Bipolar is extremely frustating for the person and the people around him.

Often times, when my bro becomes depressed he would say things like "why do i have Bipolar? why me?" If he had a chance to not be bipolar, he would take that chance in a blink of an eye.

And to the above person(G-square), You obviously have no idea what it's like to be bipolar. Some people probably thinking that the manic phrase of bipolar is fun but let me tell you what. Being manic phrase might give the person a sense of indestructiblility but that that feeling is unreal(usually doesn't last long). Person often occupy risky behaviors that could get him in trouble or seriouslly do some harm.

Ah, well, that's a depends. If I could erase it entirely from my past, then no I wouldn't, because it has made me the person I am now. If I could erase it from my present and future, then yes.

If you gave me the option of choosing how far back in my past to erase it, then that becomes a very interesting question. If I could have reased it 10 years ago, I would still be the same person I am, but life would have been very different and less traumatic.

Sometimes I just set a timer for 15 minutes and make myself do something productive for that amount of time. Usually it's cleaning up or fixing up so my surroundings are more pleasant for me. Then I try for another 15 minutes. At the end, I feel better because I've accomplished something and just looking around feels good. Sometimes I phone a friend and talk about how I'm feeling. I try to make myself go out with friends to do something. Sometimes I just watch a great movie, stay on the computer, anything to take my mind off how I feel. I know it won't last forever so if I can just distract myself for awhile it will pass.

i was dxed 12 years ago with bipolar disorder. it is part of what makes me, me. it can be pretty horrible at times, but i still wouldn't change that part of me. i think over the years it has made me a stronger person and i can help others with the disorder by empathizing with them and offering my advice.

Try to keep it under wraps. My sister took her life from bipolar scizophrenia. Few make it past 40 due to suicide.

Don't let it get you.

I sure would. No, I wouldn't. If you know how devistating this was, you'd understand how horrible it is and you'd want to get rid of it. It wouldn't matter because there is no changing it - when you have it you have it for life. Why would anyone erase anything from their future- they would have no way of knowing what it was, because it's in the future. Duh.

I am bipolar manac depressed and I don't even remember some of things that I have done or said to people. It isn't very much fun to even try and remember the bad that you have done or said. I hate it.
