We accept all people no matter what colour or religion to make our country greater than it is but we want all the good things that come from immigration and hopefully none of the bad.We can learn from other countries mistakes we should be a refuge for people that are fleeing war but they have to come in the front door not the back.I myself immigrated when 8yrs old and my parents always taught me to I was an Aussie now no matter were I was born.If you do not try and change our way of life you will be welcome with open arms otherwise dont come its as simple as that

In my personal opinion DIMIA Department of Immigration and Multicultural affairs, definately discriminates by regions. Asians and Africans have a harder time than Westerners. I have seen destitute Westerners treated better than these races. They will tell you they don't but I personaly don't believe them through personal experience.
As far as discrimination goes in Australia its about as bad as most multiracial countries, thre is always someone who hates or dislikes someone else. In fact in Australia we have enclaves of races and some of these are racist that they will only employ people from their own race. In Sydney NSW just visit Auburn (predominately Middle East) Cabramatta (predominately Vietnamese) and Hurstville (predominately Chinese). Some of these races think it is a gimme gimme society in Australia and have chips (grudges) on their shoulders, remember the Lebanese Vs Australians at the Cronulla riots recently, or the Muslim Mufti who in a translation from arabic(he cant speak English after living here for over 20 years) said women (mainly Western) who did not dress like the Koran requirements deserved to be attacked, yet he is living in a Western country. Now here is one racist who should be stripped of his citizenship and deported to a country where his standards apply.
If you mix freely, learn the Australian way of life and values, most Australians will respect and help you.

to be honest and to cut a long story short Australia's immigration is out of control The 2 biggest cities of Syd-Melb are full the country is running out of water health care and essential services are out of control
The only people being discriminated against are Aussies who speak English

Illegal immigration is a problem in Australia, too, and they've had problems with legal immigrants that don't even try to assimilate, also.

I think anytime you've got one group of people, and you bring in another group of people with different ways, mores etc., and you do it all at once, that's going to cause problems no matter who, no matter where.

The discrimination in Australia comes from migrants who will not mix with the Australian way of life but expect us to change to their way of doing things they forget they came too Australia to get away from their way of life. If you find you can become an Australian you will have no trouble what so ever but if you want us to change to your ways the possibilities are endless.
