i did mine for government and speech class on Affirmative Action. it is something that most students do not know it is taking place or the process that takes place. This topic deals with minorities having a certain quota per school so that everyone is equal and diverse according to the US Supreme Court. it talks about giving minorities a chance to get a shot of a better life and at an education and goes into detail about the latest %'s of those who take advantantage of it and those who never will get a degree while students like me and you when applying to college have to compete vs. them and that sometimes we do not get in because of the required quota the school needs and so forth.

At my school (central Washington university) the most common topics are legalizing weed, lowering the drinking age, and capital punishment. others i have heard have been if SUVs should no longer be made due to their effect on the environment, weather or not being a vegetarian is good for your health, or maybe if the government should be allowed to wire tap phones. or Gay Marriage
