Depends on the style and type of Martial Arts uniform. At my school, we wear a mandrin style frog button jacket, so the women at my school are usually pretty comfortable with a t-shirt or nothing under. A Karate or Tae Kwon Do gi, however, most girls I've known feel the need to wear a shirt under because it is not very modest otherwise.

Most females wear a wrestling singlet, or a tight t shirt or sports bra, because during grappeling, the gi usually comes apart and loose

Preferably, a white t-shirt. If it is Taekwondo, like my style, wear a white v-neck shirt.
