I am almost 30 and do not want metal braces. My insurance doesn't cover adult braces. what kind of costs do you think I will have to face? My husband and I are on a limited budget but w/my TMJ problems I have no choice. If anyone has had braces for TMJ problems can you advise what the cost and deration I may face?

Well noone will be able to give you exact amount but I can bet it will be in the tune of $5000..for the braces and extra mouth guards. I say just give the medical compaines $10 a month if that is all you can afford..They can't put you in collection if you are giving them something and it won't hurt your credit then..It will take longer to pay off but if that is what you can afford then thats all you can afford.

Find a dentist who will make you a mouth guard appliance for when you sleep. Actually, you can buy these at almost any drug store. It will relieve the stress on your teeth and jaw joint. You are clenching and grinding your teeth at night when you sleep. The technical term that dentist use is "bruxism" and it's caused from stress.

I had better luck by seeing a chiropracter who manipulated my jaw and gave me some jaw exercises that eventually cured my problem. However, my problem had to do with a muscular imbalance that had developed over many years of trumpet playing.

you should get invisiline or invisibraces. ive had braces, ive had 8 retainers, and im getting jaw surgery in a couple months to fix my downwards growing jaws. i have lots of problems with my jaws and i know exactly what you feel like... but braces are awesome and i really wish i had them again.

ask about lingual braces...its the metal braces but a little flatter..and on the inside of your teeth.

invisalign is also amazing!! but pricey.

find a dentist who is nice enough to be willing to do it in installments.. they usually understand that the treatment is expensive
