As the outer shell or skin holds the water /steam presure in. Microwaves cook by exciting the water molecules and creating steam internally. As an egg (shelled or unshelled) and grape have an outer sheath (egg=white, grape=skin) which prevents the release of steam and pressure, these items explode when the internal pressure exceeds the external forces.

Sealed in liquid, think of some foods as a plastic bag filled with cold water. When you heat the cold liquid, it swells and starts to boil, creating steam. That causes the bag to expand more until the bag, or container like an egg shell, to explode until it is so full it breaks apart. I don't recommend putting in an egg, but, a raw egg will Pop and Explode. I never tried a grape.

Foods explode in the microwave when they have moisture in them that is usually sealed in some how.

The water/fluid inside the grape or egg heats up in the microwave and expands into steam. Then pressure builds up inside the grape to the point that it pushes out against the grape skin harder and harder until it explodes.

I don't know about a grape, but an egg will explode because it's shell is rigid, and as it heats from the inside (which a microwave does), the liquid inside expands with heat, and the shell will not give. the energy that builds up has to go somewhere, so the shell explodes to release it.

Because the shell or skin is so tight that the steam built up internally explodes the grape or egg. However, you can hardboil eggs in a microwave if you make sure they are completely covered by water.

You gotta put a CD in the microwave. Like, a blank burner CD that isn't worth any thing or a piece of sh-t scratched one. It's .5 seconds of pure enjoyment of a great light show. Like watching every possible track jump into the air and burn away in a flash of lightning. Enjoy.

Because the skin or shell are airtight, and microwaves work by heating the liquid. As the liquid heats it expands, causing the item to explode!

The outer layer of skin is airtight so it expands with a bang. Kinda like politicians, christians, young punks, rap artists, small woodland animals.........do what I do poke a small hole in them ooops in it first.

LOL
